VIGILANCE AND SOBERNESS

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

1 Peter 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

     Often we hear on radio stations and see on the televisions natural disasters, murder cases, sickness plaguing a particular community, war in different communities and countries and much disastrous news yet some people cannot decipher the real enemy behind this scene.  The Archbishop Duncan Nicholas Williams has always been saying these in his teachings “EVIL IS NOT SOMETHING, EVIL IS SOMEONE”. Most of the time I think deeply on these words.

     I analyze it first from a spiritual perspective and then channel it to our physical world. We understand that the rate at which sin is abounding in different countries and cities is because we have ignored the devices of the enemy. Until we realize the significance of the spiritual world, man will always be defeated no matter how intelligent and wise we are.

     Man is limited physically because there are things God can only deal with. This is when we have to call on God to intervene. Some people may prosper physically on earth without God, we must question their approach. How are they going to end? Some people sacrifice their fellow neighbours for power and riches but their end is disastrous because Satan and his minions will never give out without stealing. His approach is crafty.

     We need to understand that the devil has a personality. You can get my books entitled “How to Live and Deal with Enemies”  and "Visions of the Night" for deeper understanding, teachings and mysteries about the enemy. The devil tempted Jesus Christ personally. The devil talked to Jesus and tried to reason with the wisdom of God when Jesus became a man and dwelt among us. The devil is described as an angry lion looking for someone to devour. The devil is always searching, desiring, craving for a soul to dominate and destroy.

     God has given us a remedy, and this key is practical. The word of God says we must be discreet and abstain from alcoholic beverages. Alcohol makes the brain function abnormally because of the destructive substance within it. If you are not sober, you will act like a crazy man or a crazy woman. A crazy person can kill, destroy and commit an unpardonable sin because their mind is not functioning correctly.

     If you are not sober, the devil will deceive and devour you. If you are not temperate, the devil will swallow you up. The devil may use people around you to destroy you. Most of the time, people who drink a lot of alcoholic beverages are despised and disrespected by their fellow neighbours. When they are disrespected, the devil influences them to revenge. This is when we hear of many cases of marriage divorce and murder cases in different homes and societies.

     The second key is that we are to be vigilant. If you are watchful, it will be easy for you to overcome danger and disaster. The next key is that we must resist the devil by our faith in the Lord. We must exercise authority over Satan using the name of Jesus Christ. We must stand against and oppose the devil strongly with the Word. The devil presents himself as a lion but he is not a lion. The true lion is the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Jesus Christ). His authority exceeds every authority inside and outside this world.

 MASTER KEY: SOBERNESS, VIGILANCE, AND FAITH CONQUERS EVERY WEAPON OF THE ENEMY.
