So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

John 21:15-17 KJV

Loved one in Christ Jesus, hope you are growing in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is our third lessons on the teachings of Jesus Christ. As Christians, we have to study the teachings of Jesus Christ because it helps us understand the mind of our Savior and Lord. We cannot successfully work with an organization without knowing their rules and regulation.

The rules and regulations of the organization help us to understand their vision, mission and goals. The same principles apply in Christianity. Jesus Christ is the life of Christianity. He is our light. He shows us the way to the Heavenly Father. Therefore, we must know and follow His teachings. Ignorance of His teachings brings darkness in our spiritual life. The light of the Christian faith rests in the teachings of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus Christ, our life and hope are lost. Jesus Christ helps us understand the mind of God through His Words recorded in the scriptures. It is through the teachings of Jesus Christ that we understand the principles of God’s kingdom. When we understand the teachings of Jesus Christ, it helps us direct our life in the right channel. Know these truths.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ help us connect with the mind of God when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ help us connect with the will of God when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ build our spirit in the Lord when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ help us grow in the knowledge of God when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus are the foundation of the Christian faith.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ make us live in the wisdom of God when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ enlighten our path and delivers us from the plans of the enemy when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ deliver us from evil when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ protect us from the destructive thoughts and wisdom of the world when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ can make us prosperous when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ empower us to do great things for God.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ renew our soul and kills the lustful desires of our body when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ bring the glory, mercy and favour of God into our life when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ increase the power of God in our life when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ help us to understand the mysteries of God’s kingdom.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ set us free the wickedness and corruption of the world when we obey it.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ expand our spiritual capacity when we believe, treasure, obey and teach it to others.
  • The teachings of Jesus Christ bring blessings into our lives when we hearken to it.

I hope these few revelations will empower you to hearken to the teachings of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

In this episode, I will share with you how Jesus Christ taught us how to love Him. After Jesus Christ dined with His disciples, He asked Apostle Peter whether he loved Him. Jesus wanted to establish a close relationship with Peter because Peter denied Him when the Romans arrested Him (See Matthew 26:69-75). Jesus wanted to break guilt or sin consciousness off the mind of Peter and release his mind to the thought of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus asked (do you love me?) Peter because Jesus wanted to explain love according to God’s definition. Peter was the leader of the Apostles and Jesus knew that if Peter did not understand the meaning of love, all the disciples will fail. When a leader of a group does not understand the principles of God’s kingdom, his followers fail (See Luke 6:39).

Jesus wanted to teach Peter God’s definition of love so he will not deviate with the other disciples. It is like a student who thinks he understands the exams question. Such a student will deviate if he fails to understand the question because knowing differs from understanding. The understanding of the question is part of the examination. The student can be intelligent but if he fails to understand the question, he would fail.

Jesus did not want Peter to fail because if he fails all the disciples will also perish. He asked Peter, do you love me three times because Peter thought he understood the love of God. Peter thought the love of God was an emotion. Child of God never assumes that you know it all because what you think is right may be wrong in the sight of God (See Proverbs 14:12).

We have to ask the Holy Spirit to teach us the Word of God. Your theology may have an error because you don’t know the spirit of the authors. Who knows the authors of the books you have read were Christians, Muslims, Atheist, Freethinkers or they belonged to a secret occult group? Connect with the mind of God through meditation on God’s Word and fellowship with the Holy Spirit and stop resting on those uninspired books.

Be led by the Spirit of God before you read a book because you don’t know the spirit of the author. If Jesus Christ did not ask Peter the meaning of love, Peter would have led the disciples astray. Jesus taught Peter that the love of God is to feed the sheep and the lambs. Sheep’s and Lambs are figurative (metaphor) in the scriptures.

The sheep’s and the lambs mean souls (the saved and the unsaved human beings). If we truly love Jesus Christ, we must do the work of the shepherd. A shepherd guards, love and feed the sheep. Know these truths.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us protect the souls.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us evangelize.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us pray for the souls.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us help ministries with our resources (time, energy, finance, knowledge, wisdom and connections).
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us build the church of God.

If you love Jesus Christ, preach the Word to your community (workplace, lecture hall, market centres, your jurisdiction and places God is calling you to spread His Word).
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us help the poor.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us be compassionate to the souls.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us advertise our faith globally.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us protect the church from false leaders.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us stop condemning true ministers of God.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us value the Word.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us join the workers in the church.
  • If we love Jesus Christ, let us live in unity.

PROVE IT TO THE CHURCH AND THE WORLD IF YOU LOVE JESUS CHRIST.
