THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS CHRIST 5 (Dealing with Human Beings)
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour,
and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do
good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and
persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he
maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the
just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even
the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others?
do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is
perfect.
Matthew 5:43-48 KJV
As the composer writes, "Life in this world is a
great struggle both for the young and old." We live in a world where most people
seek their own. The best key to identifying a leader or a valuable person is to
check the mindset. Most often, selfless people are leaders whiles
selfish people turn to be followers.
Leaders are concerned about
the world, their country, the community and the citizens. Followers only fight for their welfare and ignore the life of those around
them. If you don’t carry a strong heart, you cannot lead people. Human beings
are too complicated to manage. The fact is, you cannot manage human beings. You
can show them the way by your actions and they will follow.
Human beings are not like
animals. You cannot easily predict human beings because they are mysterious. The best
method I believe you should apply is to connect with the wisdom of God, study
the psychology of human beings which includes their temperament, personalities,
culture, upbringing, their needs and wants and what they love. If you know these basics things about human beings, you can connect with people.
The way you think differs totally from the way the other person thinks. Most people believe that men are logical and women are emotional. This is one reason
most women can express themselves through interaction and emotions. Human beings desire to love, security and appreciation. Abraham Maslow’s theory best explains human needs and wants.
Most men
also use their physical strength. If you study human nature carefully, you
observe that most women love to express their heart through interaction. Most women express their anger through quarrelling
because they are strong inwardly.
Most men also express
their strength through hard labour and reasoning. You can recall from the book of Genesis
that God created the man (Adam) to work and the woman (Eve)
to help. Basically, God created the man to use his physical strength and the woman to assist the man.
Most people believe that men interpret reverence or respect as love whiles women interpret love as
a security and respect. This is one reason Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus that a
man should love her wife whiles the woman should reverence her husband (See Ephesians 5:33). If "we" express these two virtues in marriage, the marriage will stand the storms
of life.
Sometimes it is very
difficult to love people who hate, disrespect, discredit, oppose and misunderstand you. You can
love people who love you but loving people who hate can you be difficult. How
can we love people who curse, disrespect, discredit, and hate us?
Jesus said we should love
people who hate us. Well, in the natural it may look impossible. Understand that Jesus will never command us to do something we cannot do. In
the natural, it may look like we are foolish. We are not wiser Jesus Christ
because He is the source of wisdom.
If the producer of wisdom
is commanding us to love those who curse us, then it means there must be
something hidden in this Word. First, understand that we are too limited to
fully understand the ways of humankind. As I wrote earlier that mankind is too
complicated to understand. Our level of wisdom, knowledge, and experience can
never measure up with the wisdom of God.
Sin has blinded our wisdom, and it has made us feeble in the hands of the enemy. Sin has damaged the wisdom
of God in our lives. This is one reason we have to desire more of the Holy
Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a carrier of God’s wisdom. He lives in us and He
desires to help us. Even Jesus grew in wisdom when He walked on earth as a man (See Luke 2:52).
We need the wisdom of God
to enable us to deal with our fellow human beings because sin has limited us.
Perfect wisdom shall dominate the earth when we fully unite with Jesus Christ.
As far as we live in this corrupt flesh and dark world, we will encounter people with a different
mindset. Some people are logical, philosophical, realists, atheist, religious, pagans,
humanist, free thinkers and many more.
If you don’t apply
wisdom, you will always live on the dark side of life. One of the best pieces
of advice I received from a woman I respected when I was serving the nation of
Ghana after I completed University, she said to me “In this world, if you want
to be happy, create your own happiness, don’t expect someone to make you happy.”
Such is life. If you fail to apply wisdom in this world, life will become
difficult.
Learn to
love people unconditionally. People may hurt you, curse you, and even reject you
because they are limited in understanding. Do you know that the Romans
crucified Jesus Christ out of ignorance? Some Jews thought the Messiah (Jesus
Christ) would appear in a kingship stature where he would come from the
wealthiest family.
Rather, the Messiah was
born in a manger together with sheep’s . The Messiah slept with animals for a season. The Messiah did
not have any political connections. The Messiah learned carpentry work because
that was His temporal earthly father’s job. Jesus was a professional carpenter
and the Son of God. It offended the religious people because they saw the Messiah was a common person on the street. Read for yourself.
And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue:
and many hearing him were astonished , saying, From whence hath this man
these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even
such mighty works are wrought by his hands ?
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the
brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here
with us? And they were offended at him.
But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his
own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
Mark 6:2-4 KJV
The Jews thought the
Messiah would come from a royal family.
Loved one, meditate on
this Word.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your
ways my ways, saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways
higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV
Ask the Holy Spirit to
show you the way because the people you think are your enemies may be your friends. The people you think they are your friends may be your enemies in disguise. If
the enemy wants to permanently destroy you, he disguises himself as a friend.
When this happens, you become blind to his deception. Some enemies may
sympathize with you but in the darkness, they will be backstabbing you.
Divine Key: Ask God to
expose your real enemies and stop using your limited wisdom.
