Divine Principles of Spiritual Warfare (21)

Loved one in Christ Jesus, I believe you are growing in the strength of the Lord. One important spiritual truth you must not ignore in life is the visions the Holy Spirit reveals to you in the season of a dream.

Dreams play a vital role in our lives. Ignoring your dream is a sign you are weak in the spirit. God communicates to us in several ways. One of the most frequent ways the Holy Spirit speaks to us is through dreams.

Prophets in the old and new covenant prophesied that God would speak to us through dreams and visions (See Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:16-17). If you don't remember your dreams, it's a sign the devil has captured your soul.

If you live in willful sin, you will find it challenging to remember your dream because sin makes your spiritual atmosphere dark. Spiritual blindness and weakness is another reason you cannot remember your dreams.

Invisible sins such as hatred, jealousy, pride, lust, fear, ungodly anger and malice weaken your spirit. It gives demons the spiritual license to capture your soul and build a fortress (ungodly philosophy) in your soul (Meditate on 2 Corinthians 10:3-5). When this happens, you will find it challenging to remember your dreams and recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit.

If you cannot remember your dreams or you don’t dream, it means you are dead in the spirit. Feed more on God’s Word, fast and build a consistent prayer life to revitalize your spirit and soul.

If you live in willful sin, repent from such an act because it gives the devil and his minions the license to dominate you. Until you destroy the enemy’s legal ground, you can never receive freedom.

Repentance is the first key to break the enemy’s legal ground. Enforce the blood of Christ Jesus in prayers to silence the evidence of the enemy in the spiritual realm because the blood speaks (Meditate on Hebrews 12:23-24, Revelation 20:10-11).

The blood of Christ Jesus has the power to silence accusations of the enemy. Stand on the righteousness of Christ Jesus in the season of spiritual warfare. Silence in the spiritual realm makes the enemy dominate you.

Enforce the authority of God’s Word by declaration and profession because power lies in your tongue. Connect with people who walk on the path of the Holy Spirit and disconnect from hardened sinners because most of them are carrying strange spirits.

If you follow these divine truths, you will always walk in victory in the spiritual realm. In this article, I will share one of the secret spiritual principles and weapons you can use in the season of warfare.

The Power of Fasting and Prayers in the Season of Spiritual Warfare

Fasting is one of the secret spiritual weapons many Christians ignores in their life. Anytime you ignore fasting and prayers, you become a weak opponent in the spiritual realm. It takes Spirit-led fasting and prayers to break certain chains in the spiritual realm.

Daniel fasted and prayed for twenty-one days for God’s intervention. In the second heavens, the demonic principality (Prince of Persia) hindered Daniel’s prayer by blocking the angel of God who was delivering his request.

Daniel’s persistent fasting and prayers paved the way for God to intervene. God used Archangel Michael to break the stronghold of the demonic principality that hindered Daniel’s prayer. What would have happened if Daniel failed to persist in fasting and prayers?

Fasting means denying something you treasure and focusing on God for an answer. You can fast by depriving yourself of food, games, work, and pleasure. In the season of fasting, concentrate on God and things that glorify Him.

Separate yourself from things that will block you from accessing God in the season of fasting and prayers. One important divine principle you must know about fasting is that conscious sin must be far from you.

If you are in the act of willful sin and embark on fasting and prayers, you are wasting your time. Fasting demand humility, repentance from evil deeds, and total focus on the Holy Spirit (Meditate on Matthew 6:16-18, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Isaiah 59:1-3).

You don’t fast because you don’t have money and other basic needs and wants. Fasting is a season affliction. Fasting to show that you are spiritual is a waste of time, energy and resources. Our soul goes through distress when we embark on fasting and prayer.

During fasting, our flesh fights us. Our body or flesh generates thoughts of hunger whiles our soul goes through trauma. In the season of fasting, our spirit receives divine energy from the Holy Spirit.

It is like charging your phone when the battery is weak. Our spirit (battery) receives divine empowerment (power) when we connect it to electricity (fasting). Some scientists and researchers believe that fasting heals our body.

Fasting has become part of my life. When I’m fasting and praying, I feel spiritual and active in the Lord. In the season of fasting, the tone of my body becomes fresh. Other times, too, I feel like I am dying out of hunger!

When I break my fasting and prayers with heavy food, I become sin conscious. Fasting is in dimensions. You can fast for six hours, twelve hours, twenty-four hours, three days, seven days, twenty-one days and forty days.

Fasting without the direction of the Holy Spirit can harm you spiritually and physically. I have heard of people dying after fasting. Fasting without wisdom is dangerous. If you are fasting for one day or three days, you can ignore food and water.

Fasting beyond three days and nights without water can harm your body. Some people fast with water only while others take fruit, vegetables, light food like soup and porridge. I love drinking water when I’m fasting because it keeps me active.

The most important thing is to allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in the season of fasting and prayers. Break a long fast with water or a light meal (watery foods). Our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus did not enter the wilderness to fast and pray until the Holy Spirit led Him.

The Holy Scriptures declared that Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit after fasting and prayers (See Luke 4:1-14). This means Spirit-led fasting opens the door for spiritual power. Demons submit to the power of the Holy Spirit, and it takes Spirit-led fasting and prayers to receive divine power and clearance from the Trinity.

Christ Jesus could perform great miracles after He fasted and prayed for forty days and nights. He could cast demons from people and healed the sick after fasting and prayers. This means Spirit-led fasting enhances spiritual power, anointing, and authority.

Some disciples of Christ Jesus could not cast out a demon from a boy because they ignored the principle of fasting, prayers and faith (See Matthew 17:14-21). A deliverance minister, I worked with fasted occasionally.

I knew some of his secrets came from his fasting life. Anytime he operates in the church, manifestations took place. You will hardly find him eating. He knew demons submit to a higher power, and the best way to receive such divine power came by Spirit-led fasting and prayers.

God knows the motives of our heart. If you are fasting for divine power and your motives are evil, you will attract evil spirits. The only time fasting works is when your heart is right with God.

It is said that Kathryn Kulman fasted and prayed consistently. Through her consistent fasting and prayer life, the Holy Spirit could use her to perform notable miracles. Almost all the vessels God used in the stream of miracles were men and women who fasted and prayed.

Men and women God used to use to change atmospheres (revival) in countries, cities and villages were vessels that fasted and prayed consistently. I recommend you read God’s Generals by Robert Liardon for more wisdom keys.

Before Nehemiah could build the walls of Judah and set the Jews free from oppression, he fasted and prayed. Nehemiah’s persistent fasting and prayers soften king Artaxerxes heart. The king allowed Nehemiah to build the walls of Judah and set the captives free.

The Ammonites, the Arabians, the Ashdodites, Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah opposed Nehemiah and his people but to no avail. Nehemiah won the battle in the spiritual realm through fasting and prayers, so he never lost the physical opposition the enemies projected on him.

Nehemiah applied the key of the midnight hour. He scouted the enemy’s land in the midnight hour and prevailed. In the book of Esther, we find a profound lesson. Haman (an Amalekite) planned to destroy the Jews because Mordecai (Esther’s nephew) failed to honour him.

Mordecai had a reason for not bowing to Haman because Jews reverence God only. Haman used his treasures to deceive King Ahasuerus by making laws to kill all the Jews in the one hundred and twenty-seven provinces ranging from India to Ethiopia.

Through the wisdom of Mordecai and Hadassah (Jewish name of Esther), the Jews embarked on three days and nights of fasting and prayers with no food and water. The Holy Scriptures declared that King Ahasuerus could not sleep when Esther, Mordecai and other Jews fasted and prayed for God’s intervention.

The fasting and prayers of the Jews tormented king Ahasuerus’s soul. The king ordered Haman to honour Mordecai because God made the king remember Mordecai's good deed. One thing about Spirit-led fasting and prayers is that it turns things around.

After three days and nights of fasting and prayers, Esther (wife and Queen of King Ahasuerus) entered the king’s court. Deioces, the king of Media, made a law that no one could enter the king’s court in the Persian kingdom unless invited, including the Queen. Everyone in the palace knew this because it was a law among the Medes.

Anyone who breached this law faces death. Queen Esther knew the law. She knew the wrath of king Ahasuerus. Esther knew king Ahasuerus divorced Queen Vashti for her disobedience, yet she dared to enter the king's court after the three days and nights of fasting and prayers.

The question is, why did Esther, Mordecai and the other Jews embark on three days and nights of fasting and prayers? Might they have known some secrets in fasting and prayers? Esther made a profound statement.

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Esther 4:16 KJV

Queen Esther could have risked her life by using her title as the wife and Queen of the house, but she applied the key of fasting and prayers. Esther knew her beauty could not save her, Mordecai, and other Jews.

She needed the favour of God and the favour of the king. Let’s see what happened after Esther entered the king’s court without the king’s invitation.

Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

Esther 4:1-3 KJV

Remember that Queen Esther risked her life with premature death because king Ahasuerus did not spare the beautiful Queen Vashti for her disobedience. The Holy Scriptures declare that Esther obtained favour in the king's sight.

The king held out his golden sceptre to Esther, which means she must live. One powerful mystery about fasting and prayers is that it opens the door of favour in our lives. It doesn’t matter how wicked a king, leader and group is; if you fast, God and His angels handle the case.

The heart of the king (pastor, father, boss, judge, or any authority figure) is in the hands of the Lord (Meditate on Proverbs 21:1). Fasting creates an environment for the Holy Spirit to dominate anyone deciding your case. Esther requested a feast for Haman.

Child of God, be careful of every opportunity that comes your way. Haman did not know that the feast was a trap. Don't honour every invitation because some are outside God’s will. Read and understand every contract before you sign.  Know these truths.

  • Haman might have escaped the deathtrap if he had rejected Esther’s feast.
  • Nehemiah would have died at the hands of Tobiah the Ammonite if he honoured his invitation.
  • Tamar would have escaped sexual defilement if she had rejected Amnon’s invitation.
  • Amnon would have escaped premature death if he had rejected Absalom’s invitation.

The trap Haman set for Mordecai was the same trap Haman fell in. The three days and nights of fasting and prayers opened the door for God to save the Jews. The gallows Haman prepared for Mordecai was the same gallows the king’s servant hanged Haman.

Through fasting and prayers, Mordecai made another law to counter Haman’s decree made on behalf of king Ahasuerus. The Jews had the right to fight anyone that attacked them on their misery day.

The new law Hadassah proposed made the Jews received reinforcement from the king’s soldiers because Mordecai earned higher authority in the kingdom. The enemies that desired the Jews death died instead.

God gave victory to Mordecai, Esther and other Jews because they fasted and depended on God. Mordecai became the second in command in the kingdom because the Jews placed their faith in God. They fasted and prayed with all their heart, and God turned their shame into fame.

Child of God, nothing is impossible in the sight of God (Meditate on Luke 1:37). It is time to embark on fasting and prayers because fasting produces power, mercy, miracles and favour. Like the Jews, they received favour because they fasted, prayed and relied on God.

You have prayed for a long time. It is time to add fasting. Fasting will not kill you. You may go through some pain in the beginning. Press on, and your body will adjust. If you want God to deliver you from unreasonable enemies and receive victory and deliverance, embark on fasting and prayers.

I have received series of deliverances, power, and divine growth in the spiritual realm through fasting and prayers. The Holy Spirit reveals several visions to me in the season of fasting and prayers.

Trust God for a turnaround as you embark on a Spirit-led fasting and prayers. I recommend you read my series of books for more profound revelations.

As I prayed in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that the book of Esther reveals Christ Jesus and the church. King Ahasuerus is a symbol of the Heavenly Father. Hadassah (Esther) is a symbol of Christ Jesus.

Mordecai is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Haman is a symbol of the devil. The Jews are symbols of Christian believers (the church). The enemies of the Jews are the minions of the devil. The three days and nights of fasting and prayers was the season of Christ Jesus death and resurrection.

Divine Key: Lean on Christ Jesus because He is the solution.
