How to Discover Your Purpose in life (The Top Twelve Ways)
1. Acknowledge Jesus the Christ
The first key to
discovering your purpose in life is to acknowledge the existence of a Supreme
Creator. You did not create yourself. A Supreme Being who existed before time,
matter, and energy created you.
For example, the device
you are using to read my article did not appear by itself. Someone or a group
of people (company) created the device you are using to read my article. You
did not appear as a salamander or an ape.
Nothing exploded in the
beginning. Creation and existence began from God Almighty. God Almighty (Christ
Jesus) created you (See Colossians 1:1-16). He knows everything about you. God
understands your sorrow and joy.
He knows your weakness,
strength and potentials. Like the device you are using to read my article, the
manufacturer (s) knows the device's purpose because he is the creator. Christ
Jesus created you, so He knows the purpose and assignment of your life.
Humble yourself and
acknowledge that there is a Supreme Being who created you because pride darkens
your understanding. The Supreme Creator walked on earth as a man. He died for
our sins and rose for our justification.
Whosoever repents and
believes in Christ Jesus discovers His purpose in life because He is the light
of the world. Your true purpose is hidden in Christ Jesus because He moulded
and crafted you.
The words of Jeremiah
the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of
Benjamin:
To whom the word of the
LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the
thirteenth year of his reign.
It came also in the
days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh
year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of
Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
Then the word of the
LORD came unto me, saying,
Before I formed thee in
the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified
thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Then said I, Ah, Lord
GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
But the LORD said unto
me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and
whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
Be not afraid of their
faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
Then the LORD put forth
his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put
my words in thy mouth.
See, I have this day
set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down,
and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
Jeremiah
1:1-9 KJV
In the book of
Jeremiah, we see how the LORD spoke to His servant. God Almighty declared that
before Jeremiah (anointed prophet) came to this earth, He knew his purpose.
Before the child (Jeremiah) developed in his mother’s womb, God confessed his
purpose to him.
God called and anointed
Jeremiah as a prophet to nations. Through Jeremiah, God accomplished His plans.
God ordained Jeremiah to bring deliverance to Israel. Through Jeremiah, God
destroyed His enemies.
The righteous received
their blessings through Jeremiah’s purpose. People became glorious and
transformed through the ministry of Jeremiah. Jeremiah did not choose his
purpose because he did not create himself.
Every human living on
this earth has a purpose. You must surrender your life to Christ Jesus for
divine enlightenment. Without Christ Jesus, the world (enemies, family members
and loved ones) will find a purpose for you.
…I know the thoughts
that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to
give you an expected end.
Jeremiah
29:11 KJV
God spoke unto Jeremiah
that He knew the purpose of His children. God's purpose for our lives is peace,
joy, and a prosperous journey. God's purpose for us is not evil. It's not God's
desire that we live in pain.
His plans for our lives
is to walk in abundance. Sometimes God allows us to experience some suffering
because He wants to train us. Get this book for more profound revelations on why God allows suffering in life.
If you have not
repented and surrendered your life to Christ Jesus. Do that now to receive
eternal life and the wisdom to discover your purpose.

2.
Engage in Prayers
Moreover the word of
the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the
court of the prison, saying,
Thus saith the LORD the
maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;
Call unto me, and I
will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest
not.
Jeremiah
33:3 KJV
One secret key to help
you discover your purpose in life is to build a consistent prayer life. When
you ask God in prayers to help you find out your purpose in life, He will
reveal it to you. If you ask the Lord from a sincere heart, He will respond.
As the Holy Scriptures
declares, when we call on the Lord in prayers, He will answer us. God will
reveal to us great things we do not know. Through fervent and consistent
prayers, God reveals to us the things we don't know about ourselves.
Embark on fasting and
prayers as led by the Holy Spirit. Fasting and prayers are some of the best
ways to seek the face of God (Meditate on 2 Chronicles 7:14). When you ask God
to reveal your purpose to you in heartfelt prayer, He will not deny you.
All you have to do is
to pray through the name of Christ Jesus. Pray in faith, and God will speak to
you. You can get my book, The Secret Keys to an Answered
Prayer,
for
more profound revelations.
God has several ways of
speaking to us. Download and read my free book, How to Hear the Voice of the Holy Spirit, for more profound
revelations. You can buy it on Amazon kindle
to support the kingdom work.
God speaks to us all
the time. He is not silent as some people think. Check your hearing, and you
will recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit. Keep praying with faith,
and God will reveal your purpose to you.
3.
Develop a consistent relationship with
the Holy Spirit and love God with all your heart
…as it is written, Eye
hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the
things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed
them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep
things of God.
For what man knoweth
the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things
of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1
Corinthians 2:9-11 KJV
God has intentionally
hidden some things from specific people because they cannot handle them. If you
want to discover your purpose in life, develop a close relationship with the
Holy Spirit. Find a conducive place and adequate time to worship and praise God
through spiritual songs.
You can get my book, How to Worship God in Spirit and
Truth, for more profound revelations. I love to worship
and praise God because it builds the fruits of the Holy Spirit in my heart.
When you build a close
relationship with the Holy Spirit, the things of the world will not dominate
you. Satan and his agents will distance themselves from you when you develop a
consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
When your relationship
becomes active, the voice and leadership of the Holy Spirit will become more
apparent in your life. When your heart becomes one with the Holy Spirit, you
will discover the purpose of your life because the Holy Spirit knows the plans
of God for your life (Meditate on Romans 8:26-27).
The Holy Spirit lived
with God Almighty (Christ Jesus) in the beginning. He knows your gifts,
assignment and purpose. When you love God above the things of this world, He
will reveal to you things ordinary people do not know.
The Holy Spirit will
reveal the activities of the spiritual realm to you when you love God with all
your heart (Meditate on John 21:15-17). When your heart desire is to win and
establish souls into God's kingdom, the Holy Spirit will trust you with divine
secrets.
The Holy Spirit will
reveal the mind (purpose) of God to you through creation, visions, trance, dreams
and spiritual leaders. You will not struggle to discover your purpose in life
because you reverence God and walks in the obedience of the Word. You can read
my books, The Mysteries of Fear
and Spiritual
Keys for life for more profound revelations.
4.
Your Personality is a hint to discover your purpose
One secret key to help
you discover your purpose in life is your personality. Your personality entails
your character and the workings of your mind. Some people are introverts
(indoor minded), whiles others are extroverts (outdoor-minded).
I am an introvert. I
love to be alone because it helps me concentrate. My father is an introvert,
whiles my mother is an extrovert. My mother loves talking and making friends
because that’s her personality.
My father loves to keep
things to himself. He rarely makes friends, whiles my mother loves to express
herself. Some of their DNA is in me. Most often, introverts are organized,
whiles extroverts are disorganized. Agur, in the book of proverbs, gave a
summary of the personalities.
Proverbs 30:11 There is
a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
Some people believe these people
are Melancholic.
Proverbs
30:12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not
washed from their filthiness.
Some people believe these people
are Phlegmatic.
Proverbs
30:13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are
lifted up.
Some people believe these people
are Sanguine.
Proverbs
30:14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as
knives, to devour the poor from of the earth, and the needy from among men.
Some people believe these people
are Choleric.
Socrates gave some
discoveries on the four temperaments. Many researchers have discovered several
human personalities. Below is a diagram that reveals some strength and weakness
of the four temperaments.
Understanding your
personality can help you discover which career (purpose) to pursue. The Holy
Spirit can shape the weakness and strength of each temperament if you open your
heart to the Word. Discover your personality and search for the best gift you
can pursue because it is a hint to unveil your purpose in life.
5.
Your godly passion is a hint to discover your purpose
And Jesus went about
all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the
gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the
people.
But when he saw the
multitudes, he was moved with compassion
on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having
no shepherd.
Matthew
9:35-36 KJV
God has placed a
passion in you. Maybe you love to help others. There is an inner drive within
you that pushes you to do something without the command of someone. Ask
yourself these questions.
- What drives me into action?
- What do I love to do without the prompting of another man?
- What makes me angry?
- What makes me sad?
- What makes me joyful?
- What work can I sacrifice all my time, energy and resource on?
- What work am I willing to sacrifice to do without getting paid?
- What work do I enjoy doing every day of my life without easily getting stressed?
- What work makes me fulfilled in life?
- What work am I willing to sacrifice with my life?
- When I watch a video, which part (scene) moves my emotion (anger, sadness, pain, passion)?
- When I listen to music, which section drives me to action?
- When I read a book, which chapter drives me to action?
Assess yourself. Some
passions are not from God. For example, having a passion for stealing is not from
the Holy Spirit. Having a passion for playing a scammer, hacker, fraudster, prostitute,
or womanizing is not from God (Holy Spirit). Any passion (purpose) that
disagrees with the Word (Holy Scriptures) is not from God.
6.
Your godly friends who love you from their heart can help you discover your
purpose
Iron sharpeneth iron;
so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Proverbs
27:17 KJV
Godly friends can help
you discover your purpose in life. Connecting with friends who reverence God
can help you know who you are in life because these people have the Spirit of
God living in them.
Some friends have eyes
that can see the good seeds (purpose) in you. With these friends surrounding
you, you will not struggle to discover your purpose because they will assist
you. These friends are not jealous of you because the Spirit living in them
will not permit them to destroy you but to help you identify God's purpose for
your life and assist you to fulfil it.

Encountering genuinely called prophets of God can help you discover your
purpose
Surely the Lord GOD
will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Amos
3:7 KJV
Prophets are God’s
vessels that carry the mysteries, wisdom and counsels of Christ Jesus. Prophets
can tap into the mind of the Holy Spirit everywhere and at any time. Encountering truly called and anointed prophet
of God can help you discover God’s purpose for your life because he can upload
the mind of the Holy Spirit concerning your life to you.
Some Christian
believers are strong in the prophetic gift and stream. Connecting with these gifted
vessels can help you discover God's plan for your life. When you receive a
prophetic word from a prophet or a Christian believer who operates in the
prophetic gift, pray over it because the vessel can make an error.
Associate with Christian
believers who are strong in the prophetic and pray with them. Through the communal
prayers, the Holy Spirit can speak through them to discover your purpose. As I
said, it is not every prophetic Word that emanates from the Holy Spirit.
Some people have the
spirit of divination and Balaam. It is up to you to discern the spirit operating
in the person and judge the prophecy (your purpose) by the criterion of God’s
Word (Holy Scriptures), the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, and judgments of
true and godly prophets.
8.
Writing down your dreams and seeking the meaning is a hint to discover your
purpose
For God speaketh once,
yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
In a dream, in a vision
of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
Then he openeth the
ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
That he may withdraw
man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
Job
33:14-17 KJV
One of the most
familiar ways God speaks to us is through dreams. Joseph received his purpose
through his dream. God revealed the purpose of Jesus to Mary and Joseph through
dreams.
Samson, John the
Baptist, Apostle Paul, Jacob (Israel), and many vessels divine assignment
(purpose) came through dreams and visions. Write your dreams and visions
because God reveals His mind (purpose) through these channels.
It can happen that God
has uncovered your purpose to you through dreams and visions, but you have
ignored it out of immaturity, pride, carnality and ignorance. Pray for God’s
wisdom because He is the best Person to explain your dreams and visions.
You can seek
counselling from a trusted servant of God to help you interpret your dream. For
example, if you dream of catching fishes on a sea, it means God has called you
into the fivefold ministry.
Seeing yourself driving
a car or sitting in a bus is God's call into ministry or leadership position.
Seeing yourself lifting a sword or rod towards the sky means spiritual
authority, mantle and spiritual power.
Every animal you see in
the spiritual realm has a meaning. Fishes, trees, and meats in the spiritual realm are symbols of human beings (Meditate on Acts 10:9-34, Matthew 4:17-19, Psalms
1:1-3, Mark 8:22-25). For spiritual assistance, link
up.
9.
Disconnecting from visionless people and the hostile environment can help you
discover your purpose.
Be ye not unequally
yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
And what concord hath
Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
And what agreement hath
the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God
hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and
they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from
among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
thing; and I will receive you.
And will be a Father
unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
2
Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV
The environment you
live in has a significant impact on your life (purpose). If the people around
you are not born again and visionless, you will find it challenging to discover
purpose. The surrounding people will not create a favourable atmosphere for you
to operate in your calling (purpose).
Living with people who
lack the reverence of God will hijack your purpose. The truth is, such people’s
mind is not enlightened to help you discover your purpose. Anytime you try to
search out your purpose, they will hinder you.
This is one reason you
must vacate from environments that cannot help you discover your purpose.
Sometimes it can be family members and co-workers. These family members and
loved ones can trap you in your comfort zone and make you walk outside the will
of God (permissive and imperfect will of God).
You need the wisdom and
boldness of the Holy Spirit to vacate such an environment. Associating with
people who are going nowhere will end in disaster. If the people around you are
not helping you discover your purpose, create some gaps.
If the people
surrounding you fight you anytime you try to search for your purpose,
disconnect from them. Vacating from such people and environment will open the
portal for you to seek your purpose without any disturbances. Meditate on these scriptures.
And he spake a parable
unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the
ditch?
Luke
6:39 KJV
10.
Acquire wisdom and pursue knowledge
Wisdom is the principal
thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs
4:7 KJV
Knowledge is one of the
most powerful ways to discover your purpose in life. It is what you know that
helps you gather information for decision making. If you have nothing
substantial in your mind, you cannot move ahead in life.
Without relevant
knowledge, you cannot discover your purpose. It is like a man called to drive a
car. Failure to acquire knowledge on how cars operate can limit him. Failure to
learn driving can limit the man because he lacks the required knowledge to
drive the vehicle.
You need adequate knowledge
to expand your thinking capacity. Without knowledge, darkness dominates your
jurisdiction (mind). People are hopeless in life because they don't know what
to do with their lives.
Without adequate
knowledge, you cannot get the required information to make important decisions.
You need the knowledge of the Holy Spirit to help you imagine greater things.
You can have great visions, dreams, aspirations, and imaginations, but you will
not know how to accomplish the task without adequate knowledge and wisdom.
Knowledge is the key that unlocks your purpose in life; therefore, pursue
knowledge with all your heart.
11.
Avoid Willful Sin
…if our gospel be hid,
it is hid to them that are lost:
In
whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not,
lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine unto them.
2
Corinthians 4:3-4 KJV
If you want to discover
your purpose in life, avoid willful sin at all cost because sin brings darkness
(destruction, sorrow, misery, death, curses) into your life (Meditate in Romans
6:23). When you engage in willful sin, the probability of you not discovering
your purpose in life rises.
Sin opens the portal
for the enemy to block your spiritual senses. If you allow sin to dominate you,
your spirit and soul will be dead to the voice and leadership of the Holy
Spirit. Willful and consistent sin makes your spiritual atmosphere dark.
When your spiritual
atmosphere becomes dark, you will find it challenging to discover your purpose.
One harm sin can do to you is that it breaks your self-confidence. When your
self-confidence weakens, you become vulnerable to deception and manipulations
of the devil and his agents.
You will become a slave
of the Inferiority complex
when you allow sin to dominate you. The devil has nothing good for you. He came
to steal, kill and destroy (See John 101:10). You can read my book, Visions of the Night
and read my article, Divine Principles
of Spiritual warfare (12), for more profound revelations on how the devil kills,
steals and destroys.
Disengage from sinful
activities, and you will not struggle to discover your purpose in life. Meditate on these scriptures.
This I say therefore,
and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in
the vanity of their mind,
Having the understanding darkened, being alienated
from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the
blindness of their heart:
Ephesians
4:17-18 KJV
12.
Stop spending too much time on unnecessary things.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while
it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John
9:4 KJV
Time is a fixed asset.
If you spend all your time watching unnecessary television programs, it steals
your value and makes you lose. Reduce the time you spend on television and
videos because it is a trap of the enemy.
You can read my books; The Top Eleven Errors People Make
in life and The Top Eighteen Errors People Make
in life, for more profound revelations. You
will become an enemy to yourself if you spend your entire time watching long
hour seasonal movies and playing long hour’s electronic games.
Your purpose is hidden
in your time so learn how to manage your time effectively. Some people spend
most of their time on their phones taking unnecessary pictures and doing
unnecessary things.
Social media has become
a barrier to many people. Social media platforms have many benefits if you know
how to use them. Instead of spending your money, time and energy reading books
that can help you discover your purpose, you will be wasting your resources on
the internet.
Have you calculated the
number of resources (energy, time, and money) you have spent on the internet
for the past two years? Time lost cannot be regained. If you spend your entire
life trying to please all men, you lose.
The pride of life, the
lust of the flesh and eyes, can trap your purpose. Use time effectively because time
is one of the priceless currencies of purpose. Meditate on this scripture.
For what is a man profited,
if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man
give in exchange for his soul?
Matthew 16:26 KJV
