The Top Seven Reasons People Don't Want to Become Christian Believers and Practical Ways to Maximize the Christian Church
Loved one in Christ
Jesus, I believe you are growing in the strength of the Lord. I have observed
that the Christian church is declining despite the efforts of some Christian
churches and leaders. If you read my previous article, you would observe that I gave the percentages of various
religions.
The truth is Christianity
is not a religion of man. Christianity began when God started creation
(Meditate on John 17:1-26, Proverbs 8:22-31, Genesis 1:26). Christ Jesus came
to the earth to exhibit Christianity. Christianity discovers the meaning of
life and the reason behind creation.
For now, I will
categorize Christianity as a religion because that is how the world defines
Christianity. I will also categorize Christianity as a religion for now because
of the truths I want to share with you in this article.
Diagram of various
religions and their percentage
Researchers record that
Islam is one of the fastest-growing religions in the world. The truth is, many
Christians do not know why Christianity is not growing. Most Christians do not
know why the unbelievers don't want to join the church.
In this article, I will
share my observations and provide you with some biblical truths about why
unbelievers don't want to join the Christian church or why Christianity is
declining.
1.
Because the love of Christ Jesus is absent in the church.
I strongly believe Christianity
is declining, or one reason people don't want to join the Christian church is
that the love of Christ Jesus is lost in the church. Every normal human being
desires love because it is the nature of humankind.
Today, most Christian
believers do not express the unconditional love of Christ Jesus in our churches.
Because of this bad attitude in various churches, the unbelievers reject
Christianity. In some churches, hatred, jealousy, competition, mockery, and
corruption rules.
How do we expect the church
to grow and attract unbelievers if the unconditional love of Christ Jesus
absent? In some churches, they only recognize rich people. If you are a poor
person, nobody has time to interact with you because they see no value in you.
Before the church board
gives you a leadership position, they check your financial strength and status
in life. You can be the most prayerful and anointed person; if you don't have
money, church leaders will ignore you.
Such behaviour does not
portray the love of Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ chose the literate, illiterate,
poor, and rich as His disciples. It is time Christians repents from this evil
and portray the love of Christ Jesus in the church.
If the church fails to
help the poor, they will leave. Many people don't want to attend church because
they don't have offerings and tithes. Christ Jesus came for the poor and rich.
If we want the church to grow, let us repent from this evil habit and show the
love of Christ Jesus because God created everybody in His image and likeness,
not “some people.” (Meditate on
Genesis 1:26).
The love of Christ
Jesus is unconditional; it does not show partiality. Christ Jesus death has
opened the door for the poor, rich, literate, and illiterate to access the
throne room of God. Under the old covenant, no one could access the holy of
holies chambers except the High Priest.
Today, anyone can
access the holy of holies chambers because of Christ Jesus blood. Everyone is
important in God's sight. Let us stop the ungodly segmentations and racism in
the church and walk in the love of Christ Jesus because, in Heaven, there is no
American, African, Asian, rich, poor, illiterate, and literate.
It is those washed by
the blood of Christ Jesus and those whose names are recorded in the Lamb’s book
of life that lives in the Celestial City.
Jesus Christ declared that whosoever believes
in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (See John 3:16).
The word whosoever connotes the rich, poor,
weak, strong, sick, fair, dark, and strong. Christ Jesus expects the church to
express love towards everyone irrespective of their background. I know some
people will think you are cheap, inferior or poor when you respect or honour
the poor and wealthy.
Don’t allow the
ignorance, attitudes, and opinions of some people to change your godly character
towards strangers. Express the love of Christ in church, workplace, and
wherever you find yourself.
Without the
unconditional love of Christ, the church will not grow, and the unbelievers
will not join the Christian church if we fail to express the agape. In some Christian
churches, they don’t receive new members with love.
Because of this bad
habit, the new members ignore the church after the first service. Child of God,
if you know how Christ Jesus values souls, you will note joke with souls that
attend church. You can read my book, A
Soul is a Soul, for more wisdom keys.
I have realized about
the unbelievers that they need the love of Christ Jesus (follow up, prayer, and
care). The enemy has deceived unbelievers with fake conditional love, erotic
love, and corrupt love. You can read my article types of love for more profound revelation.
The unbelievers need
the love of Christ to make them stay in the church (Meditate on John 21:15-17).
The first-century Christian believers never lacked because they supported each
other (See Acts 4:31-37).
The love of Christ
Jesus was active in the church. The church increased, and the unbelievers join
them because they saw unconditional love within the Christian believers. It is time
we (Christian believers) exhibit the love of Christ in action, not in words.
True love gives. This is how Apostle Paul defines love.
If I speak in the
tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a
clanging cymbal.
And if I have prophecy,
and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can
remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give away
everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, but do not have love, I
receive no benefit.
Love is patient, love
is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up.
It is not rude, it is
not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful.
It is not glad about
injustice, but rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends. But if
there are prophecies, they will be set aside; if there are tongues, they will
cease; if there is knowledge, it will be set aside.

words:
...God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

2.
Because many Christian believers are hypocrites.
People don't want to
join the Christian church because of the extreme hypocrisy some Christian believer’s
portray. The Holy Scriptures declares that if the blind leads the blind, they
will fall into the pit (See Luke 6:39).
Some head pastors are
too wicked to the extent they abuse the associate pastors and exploit church
members. If the church leader’s lives outside the domain of Christ Jesus, how
do we expect the church members and unbelievers to participate in the faith?
Christ Jesus always
rebuked the hypocrite religious people when He walked on earth as a man because
these leaders were pretenders. Some Christian believers are weak in the faith,
so they depend on the faith of the spiritual leaders.
If the church leaders
embezzle the church's funds, how do we expect the church members (weak babies)
to stay and help build the church? Today, many church leaders connive with corrupt
leaders to abuse the economy.
Instead of these Christian
leaders correcting these corrupt leaders, they join them in their wickedness
and abuse the citizens. John the Baptist was a man called and anointed of God. In
his ministry, he rebuked the corrupt leaders.
Some leaders became his
enemy because he disagreed with their corrupt system. If you are a church
leader and your life does not conform to the life of Christ Jesus, people will
question your leadership.
Apostle Paul said;
follow me as I follow Christ. We cannot follow leaders that do not walk in
the footsteps of Christ Jesus because they lack the unquenchable light and
moral integrity to lead. Christian believers follow leaders who imitate the
life of Christ Jesus.
If church leaders are
running after temporal things such as money, cars, buildings, how can the
church grow in the ways of God? If
church leaders are abusing associate pastors and exploiting church members, how
can church members help grow the church?
How do we expect the
unbelievers to join the church if the leaders and church systems are corrupt?
Christian leaders must repent for a turnaround.
Meditate on this Word:
Be ye followers of me,
even as I also am of Christ.

Corinthians 11:1 KJV
3.
Because many Christian believers are poor.
The unbelievers don't
want to join the Christian church because most Christian believers live in
abject poverty. Most Christian leaders oppose the teachings of prosperity
because of the abuse some corrupt “Christian leaders” exhibit in some churches.
Prosperity is not evil
because it is biblical. Apostle John, one of the closest disciples of Christ
Jesus, emphasized in his letters that the believers should live in prosperity.
Beloved, I wish above
all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul
prospereth
3
John 1:2 KJV
We don’t limit
prosperity to only money. In my book, How to Pursue a Purposeful life Without money, I have enumerated the types of
prosperity and poverty. You can freely read that book on Amazon kindle unlimited
for more profound revelation.
A Christian can be
successful in his work, business, family, and education and serve God in Spirit
and truth. God wants His children to be successful as their soul prospers. This
means prosperity or success without the advancement and salvation of the soul
is destruction.
If you are successful in life and your Christian life is unstable, that prosperity is questionable. Know these truths.
- Some people become prosperous by bribery and corruption.
- Some people kill to become prosperous.
- Some people destroy others to become prosperous.
- Some people steal to become prosperous.
- Some people covenant with evil spirits to become prosperous.
Christianity is not a
family of poverty. We are supposed to walk in abundance. Apostle Paul wrote to
the church in Corinth that Christians must live in abundance.
For ye know the grace
of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he
became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
2
Corinthians 8:9 KJV
Christ Jesus became
poor so that we (Christian believers) can be rich. Christian leaders must teach
the church biblical and practical ways to become successful in life because
prosperity attracts people into the church.
How do we expect the
unbelievers to join the church if Christian believers are poor? We need quality
buildings, durable sound systems, resourceful organizations, extensive lands,
and advanced technological systems to attract the unbelievers into the church.
We can build these
systems if the church is rich in assets and full of prosperous people. One
reason people love to be in the world is because of money. Money is not evil.
It is the love of money that makes people evil (See 1 Timothy 6:10).
We must teach Christian
believers the importance of money, godly business to pursue, how money works,
what the bible says about money, and how Christian believers can become rich in
the ways of God.
When the church becomes
prosperous, we can use those funds to advance the gospel. When the church advances,
the unbelievers will join.
4.
Because many Christian believers lack spiritual power and authority.
People don't want to
join the church because the spiritual power in the church is weak. Most Christian
churches do not emphasize fasting, prayers, and spiritual warfare. Because of
this spiritual weakness, the forces of darkness issue curses on the church.
We must understand that
it takes consistent prayers and fasting to dominate the forces of darkness and
enemies of the church (Meditate on Ephesians 6:10-18). The devil knows the
church is the only kingdom on earth to set the unbelievers free from curses,
deception, oppression, and darkness.
Without consistent fasting
and prayers, the forces of darkness will manipulate the unbelievers to run from
the churches. Instead of the unbelievers joining the church, the devil will use
them to fight the church. In my book, Should
We Fight? I have enumerated the top twenty-two reasons Christian believers must
engage in spiritual warfare.
Without the
manifestation of the supernatural power of God, the unbelievers will not join
the church. One reason Jesus could attract a large crowd was that He performed
several miracles (See John 2:23, John 6:2, John 6:14).
If we want the church
to increase and attract the unbelievers, we must manifest the gifts and
anointing of the Holy Spirit. If you want the church members to trust the call
of God upon your life and stay in the church, manifest the miracles and
anointing of the Holy Spirit.
People are living
chains (sickness, pain, fear, depression, and oppression). Without the power
and anointing of the Holy Spirit, we cannot deliver them. If Christian
believers can sacrifice themselves through fasting and prayers, the Holy Spirit
will release His power in the church.
When the church
operates in divine power, anointing, and miracles of the Holy Spirit, the
unbelievers will join the church.
5.
Because Christian believers are not united.
One reason the church
is not advancing is that church leaders are fighting each other. It is a weapon
of the enemy. The enemy uses the strategy of divide and conquer. When
Christians fight each other, it brings disunity.
When this happens, the
enemy breaks in to destroy. It is time Christian believers stop attacking each
other and become a family. This does not mean we should tolerate corrupt
practices and ignore corrupt leaders. Ignoring such leaders and practices will
tarnish the image of Christianity.
In love, we must
correct the leaders who make an error. We must apply wisdom when correcting
leaders in the vineyard and walk in unity. When the church walks in unity,
there will be growth. If the churches walk in unity, the unbelievers will join
the church.
It doesn’t matter the
denomination you belong to. In Heaven, we don't have Pentecostal churches,
Presbyterian churches, Methodist churches, Charismatic churches, Orthodox
churches, Protestant Churches, Adventists churches, or any other denomination.
We are one Christ Jesus.
Meditate on these
Words:
For as we have many
members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
So we, being many, are
one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
Romans
12:4-5 KJV
6.
Because of inadequate evangelism and follow-up.
The church is not
growing because Christian believers have ignored the last command of Jesus
Christ. Evangelism is one of the pillars of Christianity. Without consistent
evangelism, intercession on new coverts, and follow-up, the church declines.
Christ Jesus knew
evangelism was one of the pillars of church growth, so He commanded His
disciples to win souls into the kingdom. When I started my first and second
church, I got my helpers and members through evangelism and prayer.
Through evangelism, we
gathered souls for prayer meetings and Sunday services. Although I have close
the churches I set up, I still embark on evangelism in schools and public
centres. I have never seen a church with numerous numbers that ignore
evangelism.
If we want the church
to advance, we must embark on the great commission. Over three thousand people
joined the church because Apostle Peter preached the good news (See Acts
2:1-41).
In Acts chapter four,
over five thousand people joined the church under the ministration (evangelism)
of the Apostles. If we want the unbelievers to join the church, we must embark
on radical evangelism. If the church trains and send dedicated Christian missionaries to different countries, the unbelievers will join the church.
You can read this
powerful book by Dag Heward Mills titled Anagkazo

Meditate on this Word:
Now when Jesus was
risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out
of whom he had cast seven devils.
And she went and told
them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.
And they, when they had
heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.
After that he appeared
in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.
And they went and told
it unto the residue: neither believed they them.
Afterward he appeared
unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and
hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he
was risen.
And he said unto them,
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and
is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall
follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall
speak with new tongues;
They shall take up
serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they
shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
So then after the Lord
had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand
of God.
And they went forth,
and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word
with signs following. Amen.
Matthew
16:9-20 KJV
7.
We have few Christian Apologists to defend the Christian church against false
people who oppose the Christian faith and misinterpret the Holy Scriptures.
One reason the Christian
church is not advancing is that we have inadequate Christian Apologists.
Christian believers must understand that it takes people who have studied
theology, science, anthropology, various religions, and other important subjects
to uplift the banner of Christianity and destabilize false religious groups.
I strongly believe the
unbelievers don't want to join the church because we don't have many intelligent and
anointed Christian Apologists to defend the Christian faith. There are a whole
lot of religions claiming to be the way of life.
Some religious groups
condemn the Christian faith with their false facts, studies and religion.
Because the church lacks born-again Bible Scholars and Christian Apologists,
the church becomes vulnerable to attackers.
If the Christian
colleges train more Christian Apologists and Bible Scholars, we can defend our
faith. False religious groups are misinterpreting the Holy Scriptures because
we have few born again Bible Scholars and Christian Apologists.
If the church trains
enough Christian Apologists and Bible Scholars, we can break the deception of
these false religious groups misinterpreting the Holy Scriptures and deceiving
the ignorant Christians and unbelievers. When this happens, many people will
join the church.
Meditate on this Word:
Study to shew thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth.
