Understanding the Mysteries of Curses and Blessings (Why Spirit-filled Christian Believers Cannot be Cursed)
Curses are one of the
essential topics Christian believers must understand. Many people do not understand
why they face some challenges (curses) in their lives. However, it is not all
challenges we face in life that emanate from curses.
Any vessel God used
passed through a series of challenges. Talk of Apostle Paul; he went through
intense hardship, hunger, rejections, and persecutions because he was a
disciple of Christ Jesus (See 2 Corinthians 11:24-27).
God often allows us to
pass through some challenges because He wants to build us for His assignment.
You can read my series of articles for more
profound revelations. Like a Potter, He moulds
the clay according to his preference.
That is how God builds
His children. Passing through difficulties, rejection, hunger, and persecution
does not necessarily mean you are under a curse. Christ Jesus promised us
(Christian believers) that we would pass through rejections, hardship,
persecution, and pain in a season of our life because the world did the same
thing to Him (See John 16:33).
Apostle Paul wrote to
his ministerial assistant Timothy that godly Christians would suffer
persecutions.
Yea, and all that will
live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
2 Timothy 3:12 KJV
Curses are the opposite of blessings. A man is declared cursed when unknown calamities befall him. The best way to differentiate a curse and trial is that curses run in a lineage while trials follow an individual and build his faith. Know these truths.
- Curses make you hate God and the church with a passion, while trials build your understanding of God.
- Curses bring misfortune with no hope of deliverance; whiles trials create a portal for your salvation.
- Curses open the portal for the kingdom of darkness to torment an individual, whiles trials open the portal for the kingdom of God to deliver an individual.
- Curses show some signals in your dream and bloodline whiles trials affect a single person in a lineage with the hope of recovery.
If you connect with
someone and the calamity on the person follows you, the person is living under
a curse. Job lost his business, family, and wealth because of fear, attack of
the enemy, and God’s trial.
Friends that consoled
Job thought Job’s sin must have brought a curse on him. At the end of the
trial, God turned Job’s trial into triumph. A man is pronounced cursed when
there is no foundation for his challenges.
Curses operate with
spiritual laws. Until you understand the mysteries of curses, you might condemn
a man passing through some trials as cursed; meanwhile, it is a trial of God
(Meditate on James 1:13-15).
Joseph went through a
series of pain and rejection because God was training him. His brothers
rejected him and sold him to the Midianites. Joseph was accused of a sin (rape)
he never committed.
Potiphar cast Joseph into
prison with hard labour. Most of the people he helped in the prison did not remember
his good deeds. Joseph became a slave in Egypt. Some people may have condemned
Joseph as a cursed man, but it was a trial from God.
In the book of Genesis,
God cursed the ground with hard labour because of Adam's disobedience.
Now the serpent was
more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he
said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the
garden?
And the woman said unto
the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
But of the fruit of the
tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it,
neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said
unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
For God doth know that
in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as
gods, knowing good and evil.
And when the woman saw
that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a
tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did
eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
And the eyes of them
both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves
together, and made themselves aprons.
And they heard the
voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam
and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees
of the garden.
And the LORD God called
unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
And he said, I heard
thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid
myself.
And he said, Who told
thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded
thee that thou shouldest not eat?
And the man said, The
woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
And the LORD God said
unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The
serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
And the LORD God said
unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all
cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and
dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
And I will put enmity
between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise
thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Unto the woman he said,
I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt
bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule
over thee.
And unto Adam he said,
Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the
tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is
the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy
life;
Thorns also and
thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
In the sweat of thy
face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast
thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Genesis
3:1-19 KJV
Humankind has to work
hard to feed himself and his family because of the Adamic curse. Eve and the
serpent also received a curse from God. Eve’s (woman) curse was difficulty in
child delivery and a desire for Adam (man).
Till today, no one has
been able to break this curse. Although some scientists and spiritualists use
some methods to reduce the pain of child delivery, they cannot break this
curse. If God could curse the ground, then a specific geographic area (land)
can be cursed.
Some people ignorantly live
on cursed lands. Until they break the curse on that land, the curse dominates
them. A family can be under a curse. Until a Christian believer breaks the
family curse, the curses continue to operate.
Someone can impose a
curse on himself with his negative confession. Satanic agents (witches, vicious
occult groups, sorcerers, necromancers, and others) can issue curses on people
and specific jurisdictions using charms, demons, and strange materials.
Someone can imagine
curses on others without declaring it. Some people curse others through a
written document. Others issue curses on God’s creation, such as trees and animals
with their tongue and charms.
For example, Christ
Jesus cursed the fig tree, and it withered away (See Matthew 21:18-20). David
cursed the mountain of Gilboa with no dew and rain because of Saul and
Jonathan's death. Till today, nothing grows in that field.
Noah cursed Ham and his
lineage with slavery because Ham couldn’t keep his tongue from evil. Some
theologians believe Africans are suffering because of Noah’s curse. I think
Christian believers in Africa should embark on a three days and night dry fast
to enable God to break Noah's curse on Ham's descendants (Africans) because curses work with
laws.
I will share with you
some reasons why curses work and some fail. A Christian believer has power over
curses because the Holy Scriptures confirm it. Keep reading, and you will
unveil the secrets of curses and deliverance.
Reasons why a godly and Spirit-filled Christian believer cannot be cursed
1.
Because Christ Jesus has redeemed us from curses.
Christ hath redeemed us
from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed
is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of
Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive
the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians
3:13-14 KJV
Apostle Paul writes to the
gentile Christian believers in Galatia that Christ Jesus has set us free from
the curse of the law. Under the old covenant, curses followed people who walked
in disobedience of the law (See Deuteronomy 27:13-26; 28:15-68).
Christ Jesus has become
a curse for us (Christian believers) through His death and resurrection. His
blood has canceled the curses and made us heirs of the Abrahamic blessings. God
promised the Israelites (symbols of Christian believers) that obedience to the
law bring blessings.
And it shall come to
pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to
observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the
LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
And all these blessings
shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of
the LORD thy God.
Blessed shalt thou be
in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
Blessed shall be the
fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle,
the increase of thy kine, and the ocks of thy sheep.
Blessed shall be thy
basket and thy store.
Blessed shalt thou be
when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
The LORD shall cause
thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they
shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
The LORD shall command
the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine
hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth
thee.
The LORD shall
establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou
shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
And all people of the
earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be
afraid of thee.
And the LORD shall make
thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy
cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto
thy fathers to give thee.
The LORD shall open
unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his
season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many
nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
And the LORD shall make
thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt
not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God,
which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
And thou shalt not go
aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand,
or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Deuteronomy
28:1-15 KJV
Loving Christ Jesus and
your neighbour activates these blessings on your life because all the curses enshrined in Deuteronomy 27:13-26; 28:15-68 have been nullified by Christ
Jesus.
For all the law is
fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Galatians
5:14 KJV
Owe no man any thing,
but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
For this, Thou shalt
not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not
bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other
commandment, it is briey comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself.
Love worketh no ill to
his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Romans
13:8-10 KJV
Loving Christ Jesus and
your neighbours from your heart automatically breaks the curses of life.
Walking and living in the love of Christ Jesus delivers you from calamities
(Meditate on John 21:15-17).
The love of Christ
Jesus creates an invisible shield in your life. This shield creates an aura in
your soul and spirit. It opposes any familiar spirit that tries to project
curses on you. You must take your authority in Christ Jesus and break the
curses operating in your life and family because the power lies in you.
If you have cursed
yourself by your negative confession, renounce those curses and speak blessings
into your life. As long as you dedicate your heart, body, and resources to God
and the church of Jesus Christ, God grants you the spiritual authority to break
the curses through the name, cross, and blood of Christ Jesus in faith.
2.
A curse with no foundation can never operate in your life.
As the bird by
wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
Proverbs
26:2 KJV
As I wrote that curses
operate with spiritual laws. Satanic curses and human curses can never work in
your life if you have not done evil against creation. Spiritual forces
understand the laws of the universe.
They cannot operate
without a license. If your heart is right with God, the curses of men and evil
spirits will not work. People can curse you out of jealousy, pride, and the
influence of evil spirits. If you have not done them evil, their curses will
not work.
If you have offended
someone and the person issued a curse on you, repent and apologize to the
person from your heart if you can contact him. After the restitution, break the
curse with your tongue.
If you don’t have
access to the person you offended, forgive yourself, ask the Lord for
forgiveness and break the curse with your tongue. God will deliver you from the
curse if you follow this wisdom key. Meditate on these Holy Scriptures for more
profound revelations.
Behold, thou shalt call
a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto
thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath
glorified thee.
Seek ye the LORD while
he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Let the wicked forsake
his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the
LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly
pardon.
Isaiah
55:5-7 KJV
For whosoever shall
call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans
10:13 KJV
3.
God Almighty is the Ultimate Judge to endorse curses.
Who is he that saith,
and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
Lamentations
3:37 KJV
God is questioning the
world who has the power to enforce a declaration (curse, prayer, or wishes)
when He has not agreed. Like a law court, until the judge passes the final
verdict, no one has the authority to act.
People can pray all
kinds of prayers against you. Until God endorses the prayers and curses
declared by humankind, it remains useless. It doesn't matter how anointed and
authoritative the person is; God has the final say.
Let all the earth fear
the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
For he spake, and it
was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
The LORD bringeth the
counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none
effect.
The counsel of the LORD
standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Psalms
33:8-11 KJV
God has the power to
honor and dishonour the prayers and curses of anyone. From the Holy Scriptures,
we can see that it is the commands, decisions, and will of God that stand.
People can devise your hurt, curse, and death, but it is the counsel of the
Lord that stands.
Why are you afraid of a
man’s curse that you have not offended? Even if you have ignorantly offended
the person, ask the Lord for forgiveness from your heart. All counsels (curses
and evil expectations) will not stand until God endorses it.
For example, the
president of Ghana can appoint a minister to manage a sector of the economy or
set up a budget to regulate the economy. Until the parliament (majority seat) in
Ghana approves the decision, the decision remains inactive.
Two or more people may
agree to issue a curse on you until God (the Trinity) endorses their evil
prayers and curses; it will never come to pass. I have had several dreams and
visions. The Holy Spirit has revealed some wolves in sheep clothing attacking
and cursing me in the spiritual realm.
God revealed those
dreams and visions to me because He wanted to teach me some lessons about
divine power, spiritual authority, and human nature. Child of God, real power
and authority are in the hands of God Almighty (Jesus the Christ).
There are many devices
in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
Proverbs
19:21 KJV
King Solomon validates
the sovereignty of God. He writes that it is the LORD’s counsel that will stand
irrespective of man’s expectations and power. God may allow the expectation of
the enemy because He wants to show forth His power.
Like the Israelites and
Egyptians, God allowed the hardness of Pharaoh because He wanted to show forth
His power (the ten plagues).
Declaring the end from
the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying,
My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure
Isaiah
46:10 KJV
For he saith to Moses,
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom
I will have compassion.
So then it is not of
him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
Romans
9:15-16 KJV
God can decide to show
you mercy and compassion because no one is above Him in power and authority.
God can choose to dishonour the curses of the enemy because He is the Ultimate
Judge.
His counsels will
forever stand not the counsels (curses and prayers) of men. God will do what
pleases Him, not what pleases men. If God values you, He can decide to show you
mercy by dishonouring the curses and expectations of the enemy.
God can choose to
disregard every curse pronounced over your life because He is the Final Judge.
You can read my series of articles, How God Judges Cases, for more
profound revelations.
4. Because Spirit-filled Christian believers are immune to curses.
Surely there is no
enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel:
according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God
wrought!
Numbers
23:23 KJV
The Holy Scriptures
declare that witchcraft spells fired against Israel shall not prosper. When witches,
wizards, vicious occult groups, and other satanic agents issue demonic arrows
against you, and it works, then you have no covering in the Spirit.
As long as you live on
this earth, the kingdom of darkness will rise against you, but the Lord will
deliver you. If you walk in the footsteps (holiness and consistent prayer life)
of Christ Jesus, the arrows (curses) of the enemy will never hit you.
Balak (king of Moab)
tried several times to persuade Balaam to curse the Israelites. Read the response
of Balaam.
How shall I curse, whom
God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?
Numbers
23:8 KJV
Balaam had the gift of
prophecy, so Balak wanted Balaam to issue a curse on the Israelites. Balak knew
the curses of Balaam would give his kingdom dominion over the Israelites.
Balaam knew Israel had a covenant with God, so he thought twice about the
consequence. When Balaam began to issue curses to the Israelites, it turned
into blessings.
On that day they read
in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found
written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the
congregation of God for ever;
Because they met not
the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against
them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a
blessing.
Nehemiah
13:1-2 KJV
Child of God, our
covenant with Christ Jesus has the power to nullify curses. It takes faith in
Christ Jesus to activate His protection. When God called Abram (later changed
to Abraham), He promised Abraham that whoever curses him will be cursed.
Now the LORD had said
unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy
father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
And I will make of thee
a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt
be a blessing:
And I will bless them
that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all
families of the earth be blessed.
So Abram departed, as
the LORD
Genesis
12:1-4 KJV
Anyone that curses you
(Spirit-filled Christian) received curses from God. The Holy Spirit has
revealed several visions to me where I saw the people who attacked and issued
curses on me suffering.
Most often, God will
seize the spiritual authority of the person cursing you and give it to you if
your heart is right with the Holy Spirit. Other times too, God will punish the
person and his lineage for cursing and attacking you.
If you read the lessons
of Moses and Israelites in the Holy Scriptures, you will understand that God
constantly attacked anyone that willfully opposed Moses. Abraham received
special covering from the Lord because of his calling. You can read for
yourself.
He suffered no man to
do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
Saying, Touch not mine
anointed, and do my prophets no harm
Psalms
105:14-15 KJV
- Are you called and chosen by God?
- Has the Holy Spirit anointed you for the ministry?
- Are you born again?
- Are you a dedicated worker in the house of God?
- Does your input increase God’s kingdom on earth within heaven?
- Are you living in the holiness of Christ Jesus?
- Do you consistently confess and profess God’s blessings recorded in the Holy Scriptures?
If yes to any of these
questions, curses cannot dominate you. The evil one cannot touch you if you
operate in any five offices (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and
teacher). Your role in God's kingdom shelters you from curses.
Like Miriam and Aaron,
Aaron escaped the leprosy of God for a season because of his role (spiritual
office) in the leadership of Moses. Like David, he dominated the curses of
Goliath because he knew the power of words.
Always break curses
with your tongue through the name, cross, and blood of Christ Jesus because
greater is He that lives in you than the one in this world (See 1 John 4:4).
Meditate on this Holy Scripture for more profound revelation.
…if any man be in
Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are
become new.

Corinthians 5:17 KJV
