The 15 Types of Christian Believers in our Modern-day Churches
I listed the sixteen
types of Christian believers in our modern-day churches in my
previous article. If you have not read it, check it out for more wisdom
keys. I want to throw more light on the carnal Christian believers because I
felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to share these important wisdom keys with
you.
In my previous article, I
explained that Carnal Christian believers think about food, water, shelter, and
basic needs. In real life, desiring food, water, money, shelter, pleasure, and
protection is not evil because we need these things to survive on earth.
The issue is that carnal
Christian believers only concentrate on food, water, money, shelter, and basic
needs. As a result of these earnest desires, some fall into the enemy's trap.
Some Christian believers are so full of themselves to the extent that they have
no place for the kingdom of God.
If you are a believer in
Christ Jesus and you only concentrate on money, food, water, shelter, and basic
human needs, it makes you unproductive in the things of God. Some Christian
believers have bulimia because of food.
If you only concentrate
on the desires of the flesh, your flesh will dominate the desires of the Holy
Spirit, leading to evil activities. This is one reason carnal Christian
believers fail to submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
Get this key here; it is
not evil to desire food, water, money, shelter, and basic human life needs. Your
desire becomes evil when you only think and desire these temporal things and
neglect the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Christ Jesus said a man’s
life does not consist of the abundance of his possession, which means we can
move in life without getting our basic needs and wants being met (Meditate on Luke
12:13-21).
Do not occupy your life
with food, water, money, pleasure, shelter, and other basic needs because life
is more than these things. Build treasures for yourself in the Celestial City. Make time for the Holy
Spirit and feed your spirit and soul with the Word of God and prayer.
The Oracles of Truth and
prayer are the food for our spirit and soul (Meditate on 1 Peter 2:2, Luke
4:3-4). You fall into carnal Christian believers when you neglect these
essential spiritual ingredients.
If you fall into the
prison of carnal Christian believers, the enemy can easily trap and manipulate
you (Meditate on Ephesians 6:10, Matthew 26:41). I wrote this introduction to
help you stay active in the Lord.
Do not give place to the
devil through carnality. I have been a carnal Christian before. I used to eat
to the extent that I found it difficult to breathe. As I grew in the Lord, I
realized that overeating and thinking about the things of the world could limit
the sensitivity of the Holy Spirit in my life.
Pray more in the tongues
to build your spiritual muscles (Meditate on 1 Corinthians 14:4, Jude 1:20). Pray
as led by the Holy Spirit because He can sharpen you in the Spirit (Meditate on
Romans 8:26-27).
In this article, I will
share fifteen types of Christian believers in our modern-day churches. While studying
the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Spirit revealed these truths to me. Below are the
fifteen Christian believers I compiled during my quiet time. Become a soul
winner by sharing the link to this article.
1. Wise Christian
believers
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which
took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with
them:
But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go
ye out to meet him.
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps
are gone out.
But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough
for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were
ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the
Son of man cometh.
Matthew 25:1-13 KJV
Our Saviour and Lord
Jesus Christ revealed in this parable that we have intelligent believers in the
church. If you read the holy texts carefully, you will understand that the
prudent Christian believers took their lamps and oil on the journey.
In the Sword of the
Spirit, we find three important keys. Christ Jesus mentioned the lamp, oil, and
vessels. The vessel stands for the heart of the Christian believer. The oil stands
for the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit, the wisdom of God, and the power
of God in the believer’s life.
The lamp stands for the
Word of God (Meditate on Psalms 119:105). Intelligent Christian believers know
the importance of knowledge, so they build their inner man with the Word and
relevant books.
They know that God
rejects ignorant people, so they build their inner man with the presence of the
Holy Spirit through anointed and biblical songs, Spirit-led fasting, prayers,
and the Word. Prudent Christian believers use their minds at the appropriate
time.
They know that God
created our minds for decision-making, so they make good use of it. They know
when to act in faith and when to apply wisdom and knowledge in life's journey. The
fact that you are a spiritual person does not mean you shouldn’t use your mind.
If God wanted us to be
spiritual all time, He would not have created our minds. There is time to use
your mind, and intelligent Christian believers use it to progress in life. Prudent
Christian believers read a lot and make time for the Holy Spirit because they
know the power hidden in these activities. Intelligent Christian believers manage
their minds, time, and resources well. Are you a prudent Christian believer?
2. Unwise Christian
believers
If you read from the Holy
Scriptures I used for the first point; you will understand that our Saviour and
Lord Christ Jesus exposed the godless, impious, and foolish Christian believers
who do not take responsibility in their vicissitudes of life.
These Christian believers
do not make time to build their inner man with the Word (Holy Bible). These
vessels hate knowledge because of pride. They make no time to fellowship with
the Holy Spirit because they believe and depend on their limited assets, knowledge,
and strength.
Christian believers who fail
to use their minds appropriately become failures in life. I know some Christian
believers who are weak in finances. Although money is not the only asset needed to survive in life, we cannot ignore it.
One identifying mark of these
Christian believers is that they act in faith without the knowledge of the Word
and leadership of the Holy Spirit. Because of ignorance, these Christian
believers backslide and perish in their faith (Meditate on Hosea 4:6, 2 Timothy
2:15).
The fact that you are a
Christian believer does not mean do not to use your mind. God created our minds
because He desires our freedom. We are not like robots programmed to behave in
a certain way.
God created our minds to
think and make important decisions. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can
make successful decisions. Do not over-spiritualize everything because some
things in life demand wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and counselling.
We grow in wisdom by
learning from books. We grow in understanding from our experiences and by
observing the good and bad experiences of others. We grow in knowledge by observing
a series of researches and proven scientific discoveries.
The best and indestructible
wisdom we have in life is in the Word of God (Holy Bible). Inside God’s Word,
we discover the wisdom that never perishes. Do not fall into the category of unwise
Christian believers because you can perish in ignorance.
You cannot hold God
responsible for your failure because He has given you everything needed to
succeed in life. You have the mind to think and expand your creativity. You
have the life and strength to make changes.
You have anointed gospel
ministers, life mentors, family, friends, godly counselors, consultants, advanced
technology to succeed in life. Ultimately you have the Word of God (Holy Bible)
and the Holy Spirit. Decide that you will become a wise Christian believer
because unwise Christian believers perish in ignorance.
3. Profitable (good and
faithful) Christian believers
For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far
country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one;
to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his
journey.
Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the
same, and made them other five talents.
And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his
lord's money.
After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with
them.
And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five
talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have
gained beside them five talents more.
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful
servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over
many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou
deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside
them.
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast
been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter
thou into the joy of thy lord.
Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew
thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering
where thou hast not strawed:
And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there
thou hast that is thine.
His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful
servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have
not strawed:
Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then
at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which
hath ten talents.
For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have
abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he
hath.
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall
be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:14-30 KJV
In this parable, our Lord
and Saviour Christ Jesus revealed that we have good and faithful vessels in the
church. These Christian believers use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to expand
the church.
These Christian believers
sacrifice their time, resource, and energy to build the kingdom of God. They
utilize the blessings of God in their lives for the benefit of the kingdom. These
Christian believers help the church rise higher with the wisdom and gifts the
Holy Spirit has deposited in them.
These Christian believers
give money to support the church and expand godly projects because God has
blessed them financially. Some work as missionaries, church planters, and
evangelists in various places.
These Christian believers
do not mind dying for the gospel. They sacrifice their comfort zone and enter a
hostile environment to win souls for the kingdom. These Christian believers use
the gifts and blessings of the Holy Spirit to depopulate the kingdom of
darkness.
Are you using the gifts
of the Holy Spirit to expand the kingdom of God on earth? If God has blessed
you financially, use it to expand the church. If you can sing, write, evangelize,
organize, pray, or do something godly to expand the kingdom of God on earth, do
it because you will receive the eternal rewards.
If I were a lazy
Christian believer, I don’t think I would have reached this level in the
Spirit. The Holy Spirit has granted me the grace and gift to engage in
ministerial activities and writing. I discipline myself to utilize these gifts
because the spiritual gifts will not profit much without sacrifice, hard work,
and consistency.
Profitable Christian
believers are hardworking, disciplined, and sacrificial in life. Are you a
profitable Christian believer?
4. Unprofitable (wicked
and lazy) Christian believers
From the holy scriptures
I used in point three, Christ Jesus exposed the evil vessels in the churches.
These Christian believers have hatred for God in their hearts. Although they
profess to be believers in the faith, these Christian believers come to church
only for their gain, not for the church's growth.
They come to church
because they need a husband, wife, children, and several hidden needs. These
Christian believers are not ready to sacrifice to build the church. They have
some spiritual gifts but never join the church workforce.
Even if they use their
gifts in the church, they do it for personal gain. These Christian believers do
great harm to the body of Christ as a result of their laziness, greediness,
selfishness, self-centeredness, and evil heart. If you don’t want to face the
wrath of God, repent and use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to grow the church on
earth.
5. The Sheep’s
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels
with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate
them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the
left.
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed
of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave
me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in
prison, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and
clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye
cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye
gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not:
sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did
not minister unto thee?
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as
ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous
into life eternal.
Matthew 25:31-46 KJV
In this parable, our Lord
and Saviour Christ revealed that we have Christian believers who have the good
personalities of the sheep. These Christian believers are humble, leadable, and
full of good works.
They show their good
deeds and deliver the oppressed in their darkest season. As Christ Jesus
explained, these Christian believers visit those in prisons and hospitals. They
feed the hungry and encourage the oppressed.
These Christian believers
dedicate their time to intercede for the souls under the grip of demons. It is not
easy to commit your time to pray for people. However, these Christian believers
do it from their heart because they do it with joy and understanding of the
Holy Spirit.
Christian believers in
this category engage in humanitarian projects. They face the reality of life
and provide practical solutions. These Christian believers do not only exhibit
good deeds in churches.
They expand their good
deeds outside the church. They donate a huge sum of money to help the homeless,
widows, orphans, and poor people from their hearts. These Christian believers
help gospel ministers who are weak in finances and infrastructure.
They build churches and
buildings for communities and provide job opportunities to the jobless. These
Christian believers help the vulnerable spiritually, emotionally, physically,
and mentally. They provide the needs and wants of the church and society from
their heart. Continue in your good works if you belong to this group. You are building
treasures for yourself in God’s kingdom!
6. The Goats
From the holy scriptures
I used in point five, Christ Jesus exposed the doomed vessels in the churches. These
Christian believers are the rebels in the house of God. They resent spiritual
authority because they don’t want anybody to exercise power over them.
These Christian believers
profess faith but fail to exhibit good works. They have the resources to help
the church and those in need, but they fail to assist because they are wicked
in the heart. These Christian believers do not exhibit the character of Christ
Jesus, yet they engage in church activities.
Their heart is full of
wickedness. They have no pity for the poor in the church, neighbourhood, and
workplace. Yet, they attend church and engage in religious activities. Even if
they show good deeds, God does not recognize it because they do not do it from
their heart.
These Christian believers
are only concerned about their welfare and families. They have no one in mind
because they are full of themselves. They have the strength, resources, and
power to help the vulnerable in the church and society. Yet, they close their
eyes to them because they are not born again.
If you don’t want to face
the judgment of God, repent and exclude yourself from these vessels in the body
of Christ Jesus.
7. Desiring Christian
believers
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was
set, his disciples came unto him:
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
Matthew 5:1-3 KJV
In his teachings, Christ
Jesus revealed that we have vessels in the church who are poor in the spirit. Poor
in the spirit means these Christian believers hope in the kingdom of God with
all their heart and refuse to put their hope in the things of this world.
These Christian believers’
faith and hope rest in the Celestial City. These Christian believers have lost hope in this
world because their joy rests in heaven. These Christian believers have
consumed their souls with the glories and treasures in heaven, so things in
this world do not burden them.
These Christian believers'
spirit, soul, and body reflect only on the blessings of heaven, the holy angels,
and saints in the new earth. Nothing you can do in this world will take their
mind and heart off heaven because heaven is their first choice.
These Christian believers
are ready to pay any price to make it to heaven. Even if they should lose their
work, comfort, family, business, and lives, they are ready to pay the price to
make it to heaven.
8. Lamenting Christian
believers
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4 KJV
These Christian believers
pay heavily for their faith. You will often find these Christian in poor centres
because of the gospel. They may not have the basic needs in life, yet they keep
the faith. These Christian believers move on despite the challenges, injustice,
and pain they pass through because they believe Christ Jesus loves them
unconditionally.
9. Gentle Christian
believers
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Matthew 5:5 KJV
These Christian believers
have the patience to withstand the destructive behaviours of others because
they are rooted in the love of God and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. They can
exercise patience when other Christian believers give up on the faith.
These Christian believers
have a great seed of humility and patience to tolerate the imperfection of
others because they have mastered the seed of meekness in their spirit and
soul. You will hardly find these Christian believers exhibiting anger.
10. Holiness Christian
believers
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:
for they shall be filled.
Matthew 5:6 KJV
These believers in the
body of Christ Jesus love nothing except righteousness. They desire to be right
in the presence of God. Although most of these Christian believers submit to
the righteousness of Christ Jesus, they move to the next level of purity,
sanctification, holiness and righteousness.
They believe in the Word
of God with all their heart. They exalt obedience of the Word above sacrifice.
These Christian believers have zero tolerance for evil habits and sinful
activities. They have the Word of God in their heart and minds.
These Christian believers
sanctify themselves daily with the Word. They do their quiet time daily and
repent immediately when the Holy Spirit confronts them. These Christian
believers have set themselves apart for Christ Jesus and the church. They keep
their bodies and souls (temple of Christ Jesus) from defilement and follow the
principles of the Word with all their hearts.
11. Forgiving Christian
believers
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Matthew 5:7 KJV
These Christian believers
admit their weakness, so they are not quick to condemn others when they fall. These
Christian believers do not often judge others in their sin because they know
how weak the flesh is.
These Christian believers
prefer mercy over judgment because their love for God is deep. You will hardly
find these Christian believers preaching condemning messages. You will often
see and hear them emphasizing grace, mercies, love, and favour.
These Christian believers
tend to be good counsellors in the body of Christ because they have the heart
of the Holy Spirit. They prioritize mercy when making decisions. These
Christian believers are good at handling baby Christians and the vulnerable people
in life.
12. Pure Christian
believers
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8 KJV
People often misjudge
these Christian believers because they don’t know their hearts. These Christian
believers are pure before Christ Jesus because they know the ways of God. They
are ready to sacrifice their most treasurable asset to build the church because
they are one with the Holy Spirit.
They may not look like
Christian believers outward, but they have a right standing with God. Some of
their actions may contradict the principles and values of others, but in the
sight of God, they are justified.
In summary, these
Christian believers have a clear conscience in the dealings of God irrespective
of the criticism of others. They walk with God by faith because their desires
and works are justifiable in God’s sight.
13. Peaceful Christian believers
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the
children of God.
Matthew 5:9 KJV
These Christian believers
make room for the Holy Spirit wherever they find themselves. Their presence
commands peace because they have allowed the Holy Spirit to grow this fruit in
their spirit and soul.
These Christian believers
know how to control their speech and temper. They know how to speak in public
places. They can settle cases between families, friends, and workmates. You
will hardly find these Christian believers conflicting with others. If they
should take blames for the sake of peace, they will accept it.
14. Persecuted Christian
believers
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10 KJV
These Christian believers
are ready to pay the price to live in a hostile environment. These Christian
believers often go through mental, physical, psychological, financial,
spiritual, and emotional abuse because of their stand for righteousness.
These Christian believers
do not care about receiving insults and humiliation in the workplace and neighbourhood.
They will not engage in fraudulent activities in the workplace because they
love righteousness.
These Christian believers
are ready to pay the price of being persecuted and humiliated for the sake of
their faith in Christ Jesus and the Word. Persecuted Christian believers choose
to die for their faith than to obey the evil laws of the corrupt authorities in
their community.
15. Falsely Accused
Christian believers
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in
heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Matthew 5:11-12 KJV
These Christian believers
face rejection, hatred, and false accusations from some churches and corrupt authorities
because of their faith. Wicked people paint these Christian believers as evil
and say all manner of evil things to diminish their credibility and integrity.
These Christian believers
face racism and defamation because of their lineage and strong faith in the
Lord. Do not give up on Christ Jesus if you belong to this category of
Christian believers because you have a great reward in heaven.
