Do not Grieve the Holy Spirit (Top 21 Ways) – 3

do not grieve the Holy Spirit

Experience the Parakletos

The Parakletos (the Holy Spirit) is the sweetest person in the world! The Holy Spirit has many currencies. One aspect of Him is that He comforts. You can download and read my books, The Currencies of the Holy Spirit, 77 Ways to Experience the Spiritual Forces, and Knowing the Holy Spirit for more profound revelation about the Holy Spirit.

The books are free on my blog. With my little experience with the Holy Spirit, I have understood that a man can live without a woman if he has a strong fellowship and relationship with the Holy Spirit. The same applies to women. A woman can live without a man if she knows the Holy Spirit. One reason people cannot experience the Holy Spirit is because of deception.

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Isaiah 29:13 KJV

The Holy Spirit needs our heart. He wants our faithfulness. When we honor the Holy Spirit from our hearts, He reveals Himself. The Holy Spirit is real to those who are sincere. We might have some weakness.

However, our sincerity opens the door for the Holy Spirit to reveal His love, joy, peace, gentleness, and grace. Make time for the Holy Spirit because He is the sweetest person in the world!

I cannot explain the Holy Spirit in words. However, I describe the Holy Spirit as the best comforter. We sometimes become lonely when our loved ones depart. As emotional beings, we often become sad, angry, and offended when things don’t move as expected.

We sometimes grieve because we cannot connect with our family and friends. However, you will not be lonely if you have a strong connection with the Holy Spirit. When you fellowship with the Holy Spirit, He will give you unexplainable joy and peace.

One of the ways I fellowship and relate with the Holy Spirit is through anointed and biblical spiritual songs. I encourage you to download and read my books, How to Worship God in Spirit and Truth and The Mysteries and Power of Spiritual Songs, for more profound revelations.

Have you asked yourself why Apostle Paul commanded the Christian believers to soak into spiritual songs and hymns (meditate on Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:1, Acts 16:25, James 5:13). Spiritual songs are one of the best ways to connect with the Holy Spirit.

Do not assume that you cannot live without family and friends. The truth is, you can live without a partner if you know the Holy Spirit! Nothing in this world will bother you if the Holy Spirit knows you.

You may not have cars, mansions, helicopters, private jets, and adequate money. However, the Holy Spirit is enough! If you have the Holy Spirit, you have everything (meditate on John 14:16;26).

The Holy Spirit will give you the wisdom to cater for yourself and those connected to you. The joy and peace we receive from the Holy Spirit cannot be compared to the temporal joy the world can give (meditate John 14:27).

Money, cars, and things in this world can make us happy for a temporal season. Our family and friends can make us happy for a short time. They can make us happy for a season because they are limited. They also have their problems. However, the Holy Spirit does not have “problems.” We are the ones who give problems to the Holy Spirit.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 KJV

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Revelation 3:20 KJV

Christ Jesus (the Holy Spirit) stands at the gates. He desperately needs us. The devil has nothing good. He came to steal, kill, and destroy (see John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8). The devil has no free lunch.

He takes whatever he gives. When the devil gives you a car, he will demand a jet plane (blood). The devil is a deceiver, liar, and thief. Don’t fall into the traps of the enemy. Build a strong fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will not leave nor forsake us when we abide in the Word (Hebrews 13:5). However, we must know that some behaviors and virtues create a wide gap between the Holy Spirit and us.

This is one reason I am writing this article. In my previous article, I shared seven ways we grieve the Holy Spirit. Kindly read that article for more profound revelations. Grieving the Holy Spirit comes in many ways.

To grieve the Holy Spirit means to sadden Him. In other words, grieving the Holy Spirit means making him sorrowful. Grieving the Holy Spirit means making him angry. To grieve the Holy Spirit means to hurt and displease Him.

Our actions can make the Holy Spirit's heart heavy like some people get a “broken heart” when their loved ones reject them. The Holy Spirit can also get a broken heart when we do certain things.

Just like some organizations have started grieving because Ghana wants to pass the anti-LGBTQ bill and make it a law (LGBTQ means Lesbianism, Gay, Bestiality, Transgender and Queer).

Some countries, financial institutions, and organizations grieve because Ghana is doing the right thing. Like a teacher and his best student, the teacher grieves when the best student fails the exams.

One reason the teacher grieves is because He taught the student well. The teacher believes that his students will not fail. Parents also grieve about their child's poor performance in school because they spent money and adequate resources on the child.

In the same way, our actions can make the Holy Spirit sad and angry. The Holy Spirit does not identify with evil. This is one reason we call Him the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is Holy. Anytime the Holy Spirit grieves, it’s a sign of our disobedience.

You might be ignorant of your actions. You might not know that your actions grieve the Holy Spirit because of demonic control, spiritual blindness, and death. Fly with me as I share five ways we grieve the Holy Spirit.

Knowing these truths will help you repent from habits that grieve the Holy Spirit. Your relationship with the Holy Spirit will strengthen when you know these truths. Kindly share the link to this article so others can grow in wisdom.

Five Ways We Grieve the Holy Spirit

how we grieve the Holy Spirit

1. Teaching human philosophies grieve the Holy Spirit

One unique feature about humankind is our ability to think and make decisions. Some animals are more intelligent than others. For instance, crows, elephants, gorillas, sheep, dogs, and cats have good intelligence and emotional quotient.

That is how God created the animals. Some animals are wiser and more emotional than other animals. However, no animal intelligence can surpass human intelligence. We have the mind of God because He created us in His image and likeness.

God has planted natural knowledge in us. We use this knowledge to govern ourselves and the environment. However, some people have corrupt wisdom. They acquire demonic knowledge from evil spirits.

Some write this dark knowledge in books and share it online and offline. Most often, this knowledge challenges the Holy Bible. Acquiring and teaching knowledge that challenges the Holy Bible grieves the Holy Spirit.

Most often, an unbeliever’s knowledge is corrupt. This is one reason we must be careful when reading certain books. Listening to people who are not born again can grieve the Holy Spirit. Watching the videos of people who are not born again can grieve the Holy Spirit.

The more you acquire the knowledge of unbelievers, the more it connects you with their souls. Since the Holy Spirit cannot share you with unclean spirits, apply wisdom when reading certain books.

Apply wisdom when listening to certain people. Apply wisdom when watching certain videos because their words can create a demonic belief in your soul, leading to spiritual defilement. Their deceptive words can change your philosophy.

You begin to follow and teach others when you believe in these corrupt ideologies. Today, many preachers teach the evil philosophies of unbelievers. Instead of the preachers teaching from the Holy Bible, they teach the corrupt doctrines of men.

As stated, God has given us wisdom. We can obey and teach others if our acquired wisdom agrees with the Holy Bible. However, ideas that have no root in the Holy Bible are corrupt. When you teach dark ideologies to people, the Holy Spirit grieves.

For instance, LGBTQ challenges the Holy Bible (meditate on Romans 1:18-32). Advocating and empowering the LGBTQ community grieves the Holy Spirit. Talk of the spiritual, medical, psychological, financial, social, physical, emotional, and economic dangers of LGBTQ.

These are some of the corrupt human ideologies some people advocate as “human rights.” Stop promoting destructive ideologies because it grieves the Holy Spirit. One reason the Holy Spirit grieves when you teach unbiblical philosophies is that that knowledge does not glorify the Trinity (meditate on 1 Corinthians 3:19).

Those ideologies glorify humankind and evil spirits! Any knowledge that opposes the Holy Bible is corrupt. Do not teach from such books, videos, and audio tapes. It doesn’t matter how famous that person, book, video, or audio tape is. As far as the book or ideology does not have its foundation in the Holy Bible, it’s corrupt.

This does not mean that what the school teaches is corrupt. Some worldly knowledge may not be biblical. However, it does not challenge the Holy Bible. We can weigh such information with the knowledge that God has given us.

We can judge the content by the criteria of the Holy Bible. However, if the knowledge in the schools, books, websites, blogs, videos, audio is sensual, it’s corrupt. This is one reason my books have their foundation in the Holy Bible. You can meditate on these Holy Scriptures for more profound revelations.

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

James 3:13-17 KJV

  • What books do you use to preach and teach?
  • What videos do you use to preach and teach?
  • What audio tapes do you use to preach and teach?
  • Do you teach from the Holy Bible?
  • Do you teach from books that have their foundation in the Holy Bible?

Nature even teaches us that LGBTQ is a demonic ideology. I have not seen two male dogs mating before. In the same way, I have not seen two female cats mating before. It’s the male and female! Think through because some philosophies, books, videos, and audio challenge the Holy Bible and grieve the Holy Spirit.

2. Using the world’s system to build the Church grieves the Holy Spirit

As stated in the previous article, we don’t use the principles of the world to build the Church. We use the principles of the Word to build the Church (see 2 Timothy 3:16-17). Today, many preachers use the dark systems of the world to build the Church.

Many church leaders have ignored the Holy Spirit, prayers, fasting, the Holy Bible, group meetings, offertory, tithes, and worship. Ignoring the foundational biblical principles and using the corrupt systems (marketing) of the world to build the Church grieves the Holy Spirit.

The Church is one of God’s Kingdom on earth. The Holy Spirit is the leader. The Holy Bible is our guide. When we ignore the Holy Spirit and the Holy Bible and use deceptive principles of the world in our churches, the Holy Spirit grieves. Are you using the Word's or the world's principles to build the Church? Think through because the Holy Spirit is grieving!

3. Doubt in Christ Jesus and the Holy Bible grieves the Holy Spirit

without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV

One of the Holy Spirit's currencies is faith. I encourage you to download and read my books, 77 Powerful Currencies of the Spirit World and 77 Ways to Experience the Spiritual Forces, for more profound revelations.

The books are free on my blog, back to my point. Faith is one of the keys to activating the Holy Spirit. I love the way Pastor David Yonggi Cho defines faith. Pastor David Yonggi Cho states, "Faith is believing in the Word of God and acting on that Word as led by the Holy Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit cannot walk and live with faithless and fearful people. When we doubt the Holy Bible, we grieve the Holy Spirit. As stated in the Holy Bible (see Hebrews 11:6), we cannot please the Holy Spirit without faith.

The Holy Bible did not say that we cannot please the Holy Spirit without money, cars, helicopters, houses, and children. Having those things is good. However, these temporal things cannot please the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Bible states that without faith, we cannot please God (the Holy Spirit). This means faith is a vital key to connecting with the Holy Spirit. I encourage you to download and read my books, How to Walk and Live in the Spirit and How to Unlock the Gate of Faith, for more profound revelation about faith.

The books are free on my blog. The enemy of faith is fear (see Matthew 14:25-31). Fear works with doubt. Therefore, anyone who walks and lives in fear attracts doubt. When fear and doubt become part of you, you grieve the Holy Spirit.

When we walk and live in fear, we limit the Holy Spirit (meditate on Matthew 13:58). Do not be a faithless and fearful Christian believer because it grieves the Holy Spirit. Exclude yourself from partial Christians.

You cannot believe in God and doubt the Holy Bible and Christ Jesus. True Christians believe in the Holy Bible, Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. True Christian believers believe in the Trinity.

Are you grieving the Holy Spirit because of your fear and doubt in the Word of God (the Holy Bible)? Believe in the Holy Bible. Christ Jesus is God Almighty. Believe in Christ Jesus with all your heart. The Holy Spirit will draw closer to you! However, doubting the Holy Bible and the Holy Spirit makes the Parakletos grieve.

4. Total faith in the creation more the Creator grieves the Holy Spirit

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

Jeremiah 17:5-6 KJV

And he [Christ Jesus] did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Matthew 13:58 KJV [Emphasis added]

The Holy Spirit wants us to believe in His vessels. However, He does not want us to put our faith in humankind. Putting our faith in humanity grieves the Holy Spirit. There is a difference between faith and believe.

I encourage you to download and read my book, How to Unlock the Gates of Faith, for more profound revelations about faith, believe, trust, and hope. As stated in the Holy Scriptures, Christ Jesus could not do mighty works in Nazareth because of their unbelief (see Matthew 13:58).

In the previous point, I stated that fear and doubt grieve the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit grieves when we take our faith in God and place it in humankind. The Holy Spirit grieves when we put our faith in the blessings instead of the one who blesses us.

Let’s assume you buy a phone for your child. Instead of the child thanking and cherishing you, the child ignores you and cherishes the phone. Won’t you grieve? Some people have lifted their cars, money, business, family, and temporal assets above the Holy Spirit. Adoring anything above the Holy Spirit makes that thing an idol. We call it idolatry. The Holy Spirit grieves when we put our faith in creation instead of the Creator.

  • Do you value your husband more than the Holy Spirit?
  • Do you value your wife more than the Holy Spirit?
  • Do you value your children more than the Holy Spirit?
  • Do you value your business more than the Holy Spirit?
  • Do you value your education more than the Holy Spirit?

I remember interviewing a friend in America. He is over sixty years old. I asked him how he could live without divorce with his wife for so many years. He said his wife knows he loves the Holy Spirit more than she does.

His wife knows that from her heart. He further stated that his wife loves Christ Jesus (the Holy Spirit) more than him. The older man said he loved his wife. His wife also loves him dearly. However, the marriage couples have prioritized Christ Jesus (the Holy Spirit) above the relationship.

He revealed that this wisdom key keeps the family moving. If we love ourselves more than the Holy Spirit, we grieve the Holy Spirit. If we love anything more than Christ Jesus, we grieve the Holy Spirit. Do you value anything more than the Holy Spirit? Repent because you are grieving the Holy Spirit. Meditate on these Holy Scriptures for more profound revelations.

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

1 Corinthians 10:22 KJV

For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

Psalms 78:58 KJV

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exodus 20:5 KJV

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Exodus 34:14 KJV

5. Watering down the Holy Bible grieves the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit grieves when we fail to preach the hard truth. Most preachers don’t want to lose members, so they don’t preach the truth (the pure Word). Some preachers misinterpret the Holy Bible because they want a large congregation.

Because some preachers fail to give “meat” to the believers in the Church, the Holy Spirit grieves. Some preachers only give “milk” to their members. The Holy Spirit wants us to mix the milk with meat so that the Christian believers will become strong.

Analyze the body. You will see that it needs a balanced diet. Feeding the body with one variety of food can lead to kwashiorkor. Imagine a mother constantly feeding her child with porridge. That child will not grow well!

Can you eat rice continuously without any other food for a year? You will become tired of the rice! You will desire other food because the body will become tired of rice. You will be malnourished if you keep eating rice.

In the same way, our soul and spirit need spiritual protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and nutrients. Many Christians are carnal, soulish, nominal, religious, and babies because their “pastors” only preach sweet (encouraging) words.

It’s good to encourage the members. However, if we don’t straighten the members with the truth, they will fall into the enemy’s trap. The Holy Bible is a two-edged sword. It defends and offends (meditate on Hebrews 4:12).

Preaching and teaching the truth will offend some people. That’s the hard truth! Children often want their freedom. They want their parents to love and provide for them. However, if the parents fail to rebuke the child from certain habits, the child will grow to become an irresponsible adult.

Preachers who don’t rebuke the sins of their members using the Holy Bible grieve the Holy Spirit. Encourage your members. However, don’t ignore the truth. The members will be free by preaching and teaching the truth (meditate on John 8:32).

Christ Jesus encouraged and rebuked his disciples. Many “Christians” are becoming lawless because of false doctrines and false grace (once saved, always saved). Teach the whole truth. Stop picking certain scriptures to suit your false doctrine.

Encourage the members with the truth. However, preach and teach the whole scriptures. Do not be a one-sided preacher who only knows about love, mercy, and grace. The Holy Bible also talks about repentance, holiness, righteousness, purity, sanctification, heaven, hell, prayer, fasting, and the Holy Spirit.

Balance the gospel. You have preached about money, faith, mercy, and grace for a long time. It’s time to preach and teach about holiness, fasting, prayers, righteousness, repentance from sin, purity of life, and sanctification.

The Church is like a garden. If you don’t remove the weeds, it will destroy the seeds. Use the cutlass (the Holy Bible) to eliminate the weeds (sinful behavior). The seeds (members) will be strong in the Lord if you use the cutlass well.

Like fire, it can burn materials and cook food. Failure to use the fire to burn the bad materials in the house will make the room stink. Know how to use the fire (the Holy Bible) to burn harmful material.

Like gold, we use fire (heat) to remove the impurities. The fire (the Holy Bible) refines the gold (the Christian believer). We can use the same fire to prepare delicious meals. Know how to use the fire, preacher man.

The Holy Spirit is grieving because you are not using the fire well. You only know how to use the fire to cook delicious meals. However, you are not using the fire to refine the gold. The Holy Spirit is grieving because of impurities in the gold (the Christians in your community).

The Church is a community of sinners and saints. How do you expect the sinners to repent if you don’t preach and teach repentance messages? Christ Jesus' first message was repentance from sin (see Matthew 4:17).

Preach about the dangers of hell. There are a lot of scriptural references that talk about the danger of hell and the wrath of God on sinners who remain in their wickedness. Let the people know about the judgment of God.

Do not water down the Holy Scriptures. Doing that grieves the Holy Spirit. The Holy Bible is a two-edged sword (meditate on Hebrews 4:12). Use the Word wisely because the Holy Spirit is grieving!

I may continue on this topic in the next article. I encourage you to download my series of books on the Holy Spirit. The books are free on my blog. Kindly share the link to this article so others can receive the knowledge that brings deliverance.
