The Apatē of Riches (Escaping the Trap of the Greediness) - 2

Escaping the Trap of the Greediness

The transition of money

In the previous article, I unveiled the deep truth about the deceitfulness (apatē) of riches. I encourage you to read that article before reading this article for a better understanding. Money, we all know, is one of the world’s currencies.

Money existed in Jacob's time. In Genesis chapter forty-two, Jacob sent his sons to Egypt to buy corn during the hunger season. Even in Abraham's time, money existed. When God Almighty (Christ Jesus) walked on earth as man, He used money to pay taxes.

Money is not new to our system. It has existed since creation began. I have heard people say that barter trade existed before money. That’s a half-truth. Money was the medium through which people exchanged goods and services.

As I write this article, I see that money is still a medium of exchange. Although technology is changing the money system, money is still a currency. With the introduction of cryptocurrencies, digital currencies, and advanced currencies, we can transact business.

You don’t necessarily need money to transact business in this era. There are several ways to transact business. For more profound revelation about the world’s currencies, freely download and read my books on wisdom, especially 77 Currencies of the World, Uncommon Wisdom Keys, 77 Uncommon Wisdom Keys to a Successful Life, and How to Pursue a Purposeful Life without Money. I have unveiled profound truths about money and the world's systems in those books. The books are free on my blog.

The dark light of money

As stated, money is a great tool. We cannot do much without money. However, there are some things money cannot do. After all, how much can you eat? You can have thousands, millions, billions, and trillions of funds.

However, you can only eat a little! The dark truth about money is that you will become a slave to money if you don’t have vision. In other words, money without vision is destruction. Haven’t you seen people taking illegal drugs, smoking, drinking alcohol, and visiting nightclubs just to become happy?

Some people chase women and sleep around to have fun with their money. Some people organize parties and spend their money on things they cannot control because they don’t know what to do with money.

Most often, these people become depressed, confused, and hopeless in their chambers because they don’t know what to do with their lives and money. After spending their money, energy, and time aimlessly on women, food, drugs, alcohol, and perishable things, they feel empty, lonely, and unfulfilled.

They thought money would make them happy. However, after getting the money, assets, cars, mansions, and temporal things (liabilities), they realize that they are in vain. It’s a pity that some people think getting money will solve all their problems.

Money can solve many problems. However, after getting it, you will realize that it cannot solve every problem. If you know the pain most rich people go through, you will realize that money is not the ultimate.

Get me right. I am not writing this article to downgrade the relevance and power of money. I am writing this article to make you walk and live in wisdom. Money without a resourceful vision and mission leads to depression, pain, and destruction.

The emptiness of money

The emptiness of money

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:19-21 KJV

Christ Jesus wants us to focus more on heavenly treasures because they are permanent and indestructible. Secondly, if you only focus on earthly treasures, your heart will depart from the Holy Spirit. Earthly treasures such as money, cars, mansions, jet planes, and the ones I did not state have an expiry date.

We shall die and leave these things behind. While we build the things of this world, we must not forget the ultimate plan. The ultimate goal is the heavenly treasures! Some people have no time to build and expand their heavenly treasures because their hearts and minds are focused on earthly things.

For a more profound revelation on how to build your heavenly treasures, freely download and read my book, The Heavenly Treasures Within the Kingdom of God. Most of the treasures, mansions, and assets people built in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries have become slums.

The buildings, cars, mansions, and assets people built and treasured have become the dwelling place of rats, snakes, spiders, and harmful animals. Talk of the famous and rich people who built “great auditoriums and mansions.”

Today, those assets and mansions are empty and dark. People treasured those assets and buildings. However, the “treasures” have become nothing. People who had great authority and power have become ordinary.

Some are dead, while some are in the hospital. Whatever man creates and possesses has an expiry date. Even money becomes odd when the government changes the currency. The money used to purchase products in 1995 in my country cannot be used to buy a product in 2025.

I believe it’s the same in your country. The money we use to purchase products in Ghana cannot be used to buy a product in Nigeria. Similarly, the money you use to purchase a product in Nigeria cannot be used to buy a product in Ghana.

Every country has its own currency, which is only accepted in that country. If you cross your country's border, your money (currency) becomes useless unless your currency is globally accepted.

This should tell you that money has a limitation. Nothing in this world will last forever. This is one reason we maintain and renew what we have created. In the next ninety years, physical money will become useless.

The money you use to purchase a product will become useless because they would have changed it. That is how vain life is. Money is great. However, it has limitations. You can hide money from others.

However, that money will depreciate and become useless if you don’t use it. Give that money time, and the money will start fading. Rats and other harmful animals will destroy the money you have hidden.

The vanity of treasures

He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

Ecclesiastes 5:10 KJV

One truth about money is that it does not satisfy. You will be tempted to acquire more when you get it. Why do you think people have cars, mansions, businesses, and several assets yet keep fighting for more?

It’s because money and the things of this world does not satisfy. Greedy people are constantly fighting for more! Solomon states that people who love money will not be satisfied with money. Solomon stated that it is vanity!

Like a man chasing the wind, such a man aimlessly runs because there is no way he can catch up with the wind! The wind is always moving. Secondly, the wind is invisible. How can you chase and catch the wind? It’s a waste of time, energy, and resources. The desire to get more can make you indulge in illegal activities, leading to inescapable traps.

There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.

But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand.

As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.

And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?

All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.

Ecclesiastes 5:13-17 KJV

Solomon further states that some people build and keep treasures to increase pain. For instance, acquiring more cars and houses increases maintenance costs. Those assets will, in turn, become a liability because you will have to spend money to keep them.

Another issue is that people will become jealous because you have more. The more you acquire assets, the more your enemies increase. The more your enemies increase, the greater the persecution, hatred, criticism, and attacks. Ask yourself.

  • Why am I acquiring assets?
  • What am I going to do with the assets?
  • Are people benefiting from the assets?
  • Are the assets increasing my wealth and worth?
  • Are the assets increasing my expenses?
  • Am I acquiring the assets to show off?
  • Am I acquiring the assets to build future generations?
  • Am I acquiring the assets in the will of God?

Meditate on this Holy Scripture for a more profound revelation.

A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

Proverbs 28:20 KJV
